New User Impressions - Feature Requests

Christopher A Long   Tuesday, September 7

I’ve been looking for months for something to manage the workflow in my office. I discovered this and it is awesome, it does a lot of what I had been thinking would be perfect for organizing my work flow…but there’s a few things that would make it even better, I think that at least a couple of these have been mentioned before in the forums, but I’ll summarize what I think are the most crucial missing pieces.

1. Templates….I am using this to track custom manufacturing orders. Each new order has a set number of steps that will always be performed (i.e. ordering raw materials, billing, shipping etc.). A template that would automatically populate a new project with these steps would be a real time saver.

2. Manager functionality for groups. I have two main manufacturing processes, and each has two employees that perform the same jobs. Whoever finishes their order first moves on to the next, so rather than assigning the task to one individual I just want to assign it to that group. I am going to create one account for that group that they all can access, but I don’t want them to have to accept tasks, I want to just add it to their list. They really don’t have a choice, I’m the boss. There should be “team leader” functionality that allows you to assign a task without them having to accept it.

3. Project Due Dates….During the busiest days I seldom finish everything on my to do list. And that’s OK, but some projects have hard due dates and some do not. I need to make sure that projects with hard due dates that are upcoming get their tasks finished first. I don’t want to put them ahead of the other work, however because even the projects without hard due dates need to get done.

Overall though, this is a very well conceived system.
