Workaround to improve email interface

Tristan Blakers   Wednesday, September 8

At present, emails are created as notes rather than tasks unless a special format is used. This is a strange default since many Nozbe users store notes in Evernote.

Anyway, I figured out a workaround using a nifty service called “tarpipe”. Using their point-and-click interface, I created a simple email processing flow which processes messages into the Nozbe format so they arrive as tasks instead of notes.

This is particularly useful when mailing a link from an RSS reader. These programs typically put the title in the subject and the URL in the body. Mailed items now appear in my Nozbe inbox with the post title as the task, and the URL as the first comment.

If this sounds interesting, here is the workflow.

Wow this is really helpful. I was trying to figure out how I could do something like this (reformat email to Nozbe) in google app engine but I Gave up. Not my background.

Thanks for pointing out Tarpipe I really liked using it. Your Nozbe workflow works like a charm. If I get some
Time I’d like to try and build one where subject becomes project then every line in the body becomes a task in that project. So I can brainstorm each new project from an email.

To everyone else: you gotta try this. It fixes a big problem that isn’t being fixed by anyone else.

So now tarpipe is going paid so we lose this workaround in a couple months.

So if anyone has any other ideas to enable easy emailing of tasks to Nozbe without conforming to the subject = tasks rule, hopefully they will let us know.
