Nozbe’s labels are not good at handling “one-offs’ or single tasks.
I just got a job and i have some one offs that i need to do at home – so not in a work context, but i would like to simply tag/lable them with a lable like kindercare – as that is where i work currently – you know – teachers tend to bring work home all the time.
so im asking – please let me lable my single tasks.
it would be even better if i could create lables that dont have projects or tasks in them, but then to only have them be invisable unless i have tasks in them.
it allows us to think in a bit of a hierarchial manner which helps organize our thoughts a lot i feel as we could then click on the lable and add tasks and projects to it from there…kinda like a “lable specific mind dump”
Comments:
your work acound is true, but if nozbe ever moves up the ladder for GTD to get the different altitudes of views – it does need to address what i wrote here i believe.
I agree.
This work around does not work if the the area of responsibility or what not that we wish to make a lable of is already a context for stuff to do at work.
it kinda confuses the purpose of making a context in the first place and does not make much sense – things need to change for nozbe to scale up a bit in its features.
Please enable labeling for individual actions, not just for projects. Example: Project name is “Plan trip to NYC and Bermuda cruise.” Action is “call Holland America to reserve cabin,” and the context is Phone. I should be able to label the action as “travel.” I would also like to be able to upload a file to the action as opposed to the project, but that’s a separate request. I’d also like to be able to add labels to single actions. Why not? I don’t want my context list to get too long or cluttered, but my labels should allow me more flexibility, plus the ability to apply more than one label.
Thanks!

According GTD contexts are places or tools needed to do an action. Context has nothing to do with attitudes, or areas of responsibility. Please allow us to label actions, and sort them by area of interests. I’ve tryed contexts as workaround, bot it doesn’t work form me. It looks like Nozbe is project oriented: notes, and attachments – only for projects, labels – only for projects, even inbox is a project. Not all actions are related to projects, and therefore they cannot be labeled. I’ve tryed to place them in “SingleAction” named project – but again – no labels.
Please again – have mercy, and allow to label single actions. Love Nozbe, but this problem causes me back to CC Things.
So allowing us to lable our individual tasks would be one workaround for out “one-off” tasks that people keep comenting on – hope nozbe is listening.
I like the idea of labels or tags beside Star and context. Combined with more powerful and ubiquitous filtering they could be very powerful. But a simple way to deal with your issue is to think of a context as either a place or a state of mind. If I am at home, but working for my employee I set context to Work. For most things it does not matter that I am not physically there.
