Link to Dropbox

Any plans to link to Dropbox in a similar fashion to Evernote? It would save me about 45 seconds per task…

Love Nozbe!

Oh, good shout – use Dropbox all the time at work and at home and this would be a great time saver

:-)
Chris 8 Sep 10 02:24

I am big DropBox convert, been using it since I heard about it a long time ago.

Can you guys elaborate on exactly how you would use it?

:-)
Michel Bakkenes 8 Sep 10 18:29

In the dropbox Root folder the main “Nozbe” folder.
Within the Nozbe folder a project folder called “My ABC project”

The folder name within the Nozbe folder should link to the project name within Nozbe.

Good thing is, if you’d have an evernote tagged “My Project ABC” it would show up as well… currently in my dropbox folder i keep per “project” a folder with docs, apart from the notes i keep in Evernote.

Can we imagine to link a Nozbe folder (1 by computer) to Nozbe, and each sub-folders to each project as explaned by Michel ?
It will be usefull to be able to do that with any folder on computer (dropbox is only a specific folder)

Very clever idea. I would use this. Perhaps the community can work together to add this, say via a Chrome or FF extension?

H2orocks4000 12 Sep 10 19:51

i like the drop box concept, i hope some how this works its way into nozbe/evernote.

:-)
Delfina 13 Sep 10 07:21

All I can say that dropbox will be added to Nozbe. I do not know yet how this will look (ideas are appreciated).

:-)
Damien GAIE 15 Sep 10 23:07

Delfina, a weakness of Nozbe is… communication. Dropbox, better email integration, offline version and son on.
I saw some annoucement about improvement but… still no schedule (real schedule, not than offline version still not available today).
I like Nozbe but…

:-)
Delfina 16 Sep 10 08:22

The offline is being finished. I believe it will be out within a month. Or at least that is what I hear on this from our tech.

I do understand how you feel about not knowing what is coming when. I do my best to update you all as soon as I know anything on any of those matter, but sometimes situation changes daily.

In case of dropbox.. there are several posts in forum on this and in all I have asked users for their ideas on how it should work. Those ideas are essential in the process, but somehow although a lot seem to request it very few have volunteered a though on how. Please do provide you feelings on how you wish dropbox integration to look.

:-)

Add me to the list of those who like Michel’s suggested implementation. Nozbe folder in DropBox, folder names in Nozbe folder mirror project names. Files button in Nozbe (in the mobile apps) or Files section on the website link directly to DropBox>Nozbe folder with the same project name. Why store files in two places (DropBox and Nozbe) if you only need to store them in one?

:-)
Nick Coward 24 Sep 10 15:14

Even having a short cut to dropbox so that the file doesn’t have to be uploaded twice would be a time saver

:-)
Marisa Whitfield 24 Sep 10 15:17

I vote for Michael’s suggestion too. Sounds exactly right to me

:-)
Justin Lugbill 24 Sep 10 21:19

This would be huge…

:-)
Jim Elliott 25 Sep 10 03:03

If you are looking at drop box, look at box.net.

:-)
Jim Elliott 25 Sep 10 17:10

Let me elaborate a bit. Dropbox is a great product but it is designed for both personal and business use. But Box.net was created just for companies and not much for personal use. We use Box because of it’s tools for business. Combining the two would make the perfect collaborative tool for us. Many companies like Nozbe that use both. Simply go up on their list of affiliates and you will see immediately what I am referring to.

some thoughts about the Nozbe – Dropbox integration:

  • when making a new project, automaticly create a folder in the Nozbe-folder in Dropbox
  • it should also be possible to link multiple folders to a project
  • when emailing a task, Nozbe should save the attachments to Drop Box and provide a direct link to the attachment in the task description.

any plans to launch the Nozbe Dropbox integration soon?

:-)
Christian Listl 13 Dec 10 20:28

+1 for dropbox

:-)
Delfina 14 Dec 10 07:31

Joost,

Thank you for your ideas. We have been also thinking on something along those lines. I’m not sure when the dropbox will be integrated yet. But it is definitely something we would like to do soon… to put it bluntly we use it at Nozbe also ;-)

:-)
Brent Hohlweg 7 Feb 11 20:00

+1 for Dropbox!

:-)
Zlatko Zmijarevic 9 Feb 11 09:27

I like the idea. However, I use different services like SugarSync and BOX.net. I also have my own cloud setup accessible via FTP and WebDAV.

Therefore, I recommend you build a file-sync solution based on a standard/widespread interface (like WebDAV) for mounting storage! Thus, enabling different solutions for file sharing/syncing.

Take into account that integrating Nozbe with just one service/technology may be good, but can be frustrating. In my case, I use OneNote for notes because it suits me better then EverNote. I’m also a Windows Mobile user. IMHO, if Nozbe development is aiming one particular solution, it will eventually lose users (not everybody likes/uses iPhones and iPads).

:-)
Delfina 10 Feb 11 08:35

Well, of what I hear yes we’ll add dropbox. In fact the iPhone and iPad application may step ahead of the rest of Nozbe. But this is still to be confirmed

:-)
Marisa Whitfield 21 Feb 11 23:01

Michael’s blog today states “as Dropbox will sync with Nozbe in a few weeks” So it seems like it will hit in March ??

:-)
Delfina 22 Feb 11 10:03

Hello Chris,

Yes it is coming. It even seems like the iPad and iPhone will be ahead of on-line (but please do not hold me to that one just yet). As for the date.. I would rather say April, due to the beta tests of Andriod… So optimism – YES- but a moderate please…I hate to see you all being disappointed because it did not come out as soon as it seemed.

:-)
Michael Potter 30 Apr 11 15:22

Hi – I see Dropbox working on my iPad with Nozbe. You don’t know how exciting it was to see notes I created in my iPad application called “Notebooks” show up in Nozbe!

I’m looking forward to the browser integration with Dropbox – Just an opinion… I’d rather use Dropbox than Evernote any day of the week. I purchased a Pro Evernote account and it’s good but Dropbox is simple, fast and easy.

:-)
Delfina 2 May 11 08:52

Dropbox ought to be avaliable on-line witin about 1-2 weeks

Marisa Whitfield 5 May 11 14:18

Just a question to our Nozbe friends on how scanning only two levels was chosen. All of our small business info is in a folder in drop box (1 level now) and in that folder are folders called Proposals, Finance, etc. so that is two levels BUT what I need to sync is in the third level (all the folders in the Proposal folder are labelled by who we are working with) and this is the level I really want to sync (third level). So, I guess I will have to revisit our folder structure but maybe others are in the same situation? Since Dropbox is synced with our Mac’s folder structure, it impacts much….
