Joomla Forum maybe. Need I say more.
Comments:
Some way of checking a box to “follow this post” would be nice with a choice of a daily weekly or biweekly interval for when we get emailed updates.
Tony, thanks for your input. Please if you can let me know why you’d want a different forum. What kind of features you’d expect from this forum to make it better?
I think part of it is the interface. It’s pretty non-standard for forums. People are used to using things like vBulletin and PHPbb. Most forums allow file sharing, HTML or RichText signatures, private messaging, subscribe to thread, etc.
I work for an internet marketing and development company; I personally specialize in developing online communities and conversion centric marketing & design. Perhaps we can do a service trade? Let’s talk.
These features would make the forum more useful:
Categorize by product/device. I don’t use apple products so threads about iphone/ipod don’t interest me vs. android which does but won’t interest the apple users.
Being able to subscribe to threads I’m following.
Having an RSS feed.
Thanks,
m2
*any feature allowing us to keep up with whats happening without having to visit the actual forum site.
*on the forum – hot list of topics we have recently commented on and commented on the most as well.
and everything els i said already.
though i admit, i would be completley satisfied with a uservoice forum – it seems that it would really help out a lot.
There’s no need to reinvent the wheel…
UserVoice or IdeaScale would be great!
These kind of solution allow proper voting on ideas, so the Nozbe team can easily prioritize the features based on user request.
Listening to what users want the most in any given moment is essential for “Customer Development”. This is one of the cornerstones of Lean Startups.
There is also ZOHO Discussions:

(see also http://www.zoho.com/discussions/customization-gallery.html)
The great thing about the mentioned services is that they focus users to share 1) ideas 2) bugs and 3) discussions.
Hi Michael – think the other guys have covered it. The cost is minimal and you’ll make us all feel loved ;)
Some definite list of what is being worked on now and a sort of “progress Bar” that can be updated by nozbe adminastrators.
this way we can see how close things are to being done.
Coming late to this. A bit surprised by Michael’s question really! If you visit ‘normal’ forums you see loads of facilities, some mentioned here, and its what people expect. The question is perhaps asked because there is a wish to enhance the existing forum code used here. But I don’t believe many would think that a great idea when there is already great forum software out there that people know and love – vBulletin & PHPbb etc. Although you would have to do some code to link logins that would still be less then trying to take a mid-90’s style version 1 forum and make it do what’s needed today.
Bruce – completely agree.
1) some list of features being worked on at the very moment with their status being indicated with a bar showing their priority at the moment. (high priority – move bar to right) low priority – (move bar to left.
ability to opt in to an email notification when certain features are launched – to keep us from checking the blog frequently.
ex: android app
I’m sure Michael will keep you all email update of the Andriod apps.
I meerly want the ability to be notified of various things at a user defined frequency.
Though, might i say – ive noticed with various forum designs that some i get kinda sucked into surfing and adding my opion to often – nozbe would be a good example of that – others like uservoice – i find i dont waste so much time on.
and on top of that they give a clear picture of where the company is currently headed.
