it just seems odd that you would have added time – but made nozbe task lists list tasks in military time as it seems to defeat the purpose from a user perspective of having to think when things are.
Comments:
What other type is there?
so despite the importance of time awarness when it comes to getting things done – i’m assuming this will not change for people in the US and else where that grew up thinking of time in the same format.
@H2orocks4000 – Welcome to the world – where world is not just whatever the USA happens to decide all the time. Lots of people don’t live in the USA but many web apps do and as somebody who lives elsewhere one gets really tired of always seeing the American way as the ‘only’ way. Great that Nozbe springs from another part of the world and defaults another way which feels really natural. Not against the USA but for once you see non-US frustrations of what is put before us by many US providers.
All that said it would clearly be appropriate if all web providers seriously allowed customisation of base stuff like this. Nozbe is not perfect in this at all – witness it does not allow old world time like the US market likes – and for myself I hate seeing calendars where its assumed we all like Sunday as the start of the week.
H2orocks4000 – what do you mean by military time? Do you mean that Nozbe’s time zone is wrong, ie, your local time is 16:00 but Nozbe says something like 10:00?
If this is the case, go to settings > Personal Information, and change the time zone to your own.
i have no issue with nozbe respecting other users in other locations – ive meerly seen a lot of sites give users a choice as to how to display time information in their customized UI.
my main complaint is that nozbe does not provide choice in this area.
its more to do with the fact that where ever else i deal with time its in the format that bruce refers to as “old world time” where time is displayed as 11:00am 12:00pm 1:00pm 2:00pm.
displaying time in a different format that what one uses on a normal basis defeats the purpose of being able to glance at nozbe and get what info one might want as it requiries one to do some mental switching to figure out time related information in the format we wish to use.
David, To be honest such option is among considered, but it is not on the top of the list.
David, we serve many customers. They all have their different ideas, different customs and different way of seeing things. As result it is hard to please everyone. We have worked out the system, in best interest and with best intentions… that would encompass needs of most users. It is clear that not all will be happy with every-single aspect. E.g. most of Europe (and many other countries) goes by what you call military time…
