Michael Schulman 22 Mar 11 11:45

Nozbe’s lack of communication is extremely frustrating. We could be in for a long wait. RTM looks better by the hour.

:-)
Dermot 23 Mar 11 04:54

Hi Michael, thanks.
Anyone from Nobze wish to update us?

:-)
Delfina 23 Mar 11 11:36

Hi guys,

Of what I hear, if all goes well, the Andriod will be out within 24-48 hours

:-)
Nick 23 Mar 11 21:12

How will we get access to it? Will it be in the app store or will we have to get it directly from nozbe.com?

:-)
Delfina 24 Mar 11 07:58

It will be in the store. There will be no cost involved, of what I hear.

:-)
BruceMarriott 24 Mar 11 10:18

I felt sure I posted on this thread yeterday. I must have been dreaming.

Delfina – when you say “Andriod will be out within 24-48 hours” do you mean a beta or do you mean a full release version?

:-)
WB McCarty 25 Mar 11 18:41

Bruce, perhaps you’re aware and seeking confirmation but the blog promised only a beta within this time frame.

:-)
John Mcmanus 25 Mar 11 22:08

I cant believe I’m still checking this. I must be a sucker for punishment. There are timescales and there are Nozbe timescales. Such a shame because most of the offering (excluding price is top notch.

:-)
Michael Gallagher 26 Mar 11 02:42

Ok, it’s been 48 hours. We, the user base, love Nozbe. That’s why we’re all here. But the Android version has been the tech unicorn of Nozbe for at least the year I’ve been using it. Sorry, but Android is now more common than iPhone. Want more users? Release the ‘droid version. You can do it!

:-)
BruceMarriott 26 Mar 11 07:52

WB McCarty: “Bruce, perhaps you’re aware and seeking confirmation but the blog promised only a beta within this time frame.”

I’m afraid this is simply not correct.

The blog about the new app is here:
http://www.nozbe.com/gtd/blog/post-4b26e6e/nozbe_is_coming_to_android_in_march-first_screenshot

Nowhere does it talk about a beta and I note these words:
“We can’t wait to bring you the official Nozbe Android client so stay tuned for more updates and for the final release in March.”

So I believe final release was promised in March.

However, earlier posts from Nozbe asked for beta testers and because I find Nozbe communications usually poor in terms of specific detail I have kept asking about what is being delivered – beta or final.

John: “There are timescales and there are Nozbe timescales.” How very, very, true.

For the record on this post from yesterday:
http://www.nozbe.com/gtd/forum/section-1/post-285dd2b/what_are_nozbe_s_priorities_right_now_and_what_are_they_working_on

Nozbe said “Today we’re launching the Android app which was our main focus for the last three months.”

One day on and I still see no evidence of any app, beta or otherwise in the Android Market.

:-)
WB McCarty 26 Mar 11 19:27

I’ve seen several posts from Nozbe that refer to a March beta. For instance: http://www.nozbe.com/pl/forum/section-1/post-3df0eae: “Andriod beta version should be out within a week (process of submitting to store has already been begun).” The post is dated March 11.

Also, speaking for myself, I’d rather have a delayed Android app than a buggy Android app :-)

:-)
David V 27 Mar 11 22:51

Thing is though, I’m on the beta testers list, and I’ve had about as much communication as anyone. NOTHING apart from looking at these posts.
A search on the Android market and still nothing.
Can someone please tell us what’s happening

:-)
John Mcmanus 28 Mar 11 00:25

I think I’m becoming quite seasoned in dealing with online and offline software offerings and I can only echo many previous comments. Communications is key! Its letting Nozbe down and if they continue to ignore this feedback then its going to lose them business. The new smartphone mobile market (especially Iphone and Android) is potentially so lucrative that lots of companies are promising the earth at the moment to try to make sure they are in prime position. Nozbe has a fairly small window to take advantage of their online customer base before they become an also ran. I will be completely honest as a disclaimer. I dont use Nozbe at the moment. I paid for 2 years in advance so I am still a subscriber and it pains me how many things Nozbe gets right but how many important customer service things it gets wrong. Somebody is going to come up with an offering that ticks enough boxes. And they will make themselves a fortune! I hope that somebody is Nozbe but the signs dont look good.

:-)
David V 28 Mar 11 06:28

I have to say I have started looking elsewhere, and you’re right John, there are other quite attractive offers out there right now.
Two in particular that – if I wasn’t paid up for the rest of this year I would be moving away. They have great Android apps, I have downloaded both of them and seriously thinking of jumping ship regardless of the money.
Nozbe people, you had better start telling us what’s happening or you will lose many, including me.

:-)
Delfina 28 Mar 11 12:22

Hello,

I have been updating users on Android in several places, so I apologize if I have missed this thread. Android is coming within 2-3 days.

:-)
BruceMarriott 28 Mar 11 13:08

Delfina – what is being released?

A beta or a final release?

You have talked of beta releases and Michael, in the blog, talked about a final release. Which is it?

:-)
Nick 28 Mar 11 16:05

Bruce,

The difference between beta and final is all in how long something’s been tested. A beta will be feature complete, but might not have full testing done, i.e. may crash at random times. Since it’s not been released at all yet, it will be a beta whether they call it that or not. But it should be feature complete and relatively stable. It will still be very helpful even if it crashes a few times.

:-)
Michael Schulman 28 Mar 11 17:21

David V: Care to share the names of the 2 apps you like?

:-)
Patrick Stream 28 Mar 11 18:35

Yes I’d like to know the names too. I signed up two weeks ago for Nozbe after waiting for a year. Based on comments I’ve seen in these forums and blog posts I figured the were close to an Android release. When the President posts that the app will be released on a given day and it doesn’t happen, and then there is no definitive follow up, not good, my confidence is very low. I need to cancel and move on.

:-)
BruceMarriott 28 Mar 11 18:37

Nick – I’m well aware of the difference. But there is a distinction which is why I ask. It’s also the case that Nozbe asked people to come forward for beta testing – so if it is a beta it might be closed to the rest of us. On the other hand they may have changed their mind… who knows?

:-)
David V 29 Mar 11 06:50

Delfina

You say 2-3 days. Sorry to be rude but 2 days ago you said 24-48 hours, a couple of days before that on the blog it was ‘on the weekend or start of next week’. Before that it was ‘March’, before that it was …......

If there were problems then say there are problems, if it’s in beta then tell us and give us a try. It seems that we are just getting fobbed off again and again.

Nozbe is good, but there are other options out there that have good android apps, and it seems, better customer service.

For everyone:
Google ‘my life organised’

:-)
Delfina 29 Mar 11 09:18

David,

I do realize that is what I have said last week… but I always present to you what I know at current moment… I can’t give you a 100% quarantee that it will be there… as it was in this particular instance they have told me it is ready, but they are running final test. Then it turned out they found some serious bug and had to go back to solve it.

If you want you can go ahead and kill me, do by all means… but I present to you the information as I’m getting from our tech. My yesterday post was make right after talking about this to our main technician. I have no other data… and as for your “Before that it was ‘March”, I don’t mean to be rude here either… but it is still March.

:-)
David V 29 Mar 11 11:14

Thank you for replying Delfina.

I certainly don’t want to kill you (-:

Why was this not submitted as a beta software, at least then we could see it and use it. Beta means we don’t trust it with all our information, but we could still have used it and had a go?

Just that there was no explanation on why the delay and when someone says early March, then another then another without other info it just seems like a fob off.

Yes it is still March, but barely.

I’m being vocal because I just want to know what’s happening, and until your last post there has been no info on the delays. Thanks for the info.

Like others here, I run a busy business, and it’s about to get more with advertising etc, and with that I need something more mobile than a pc. Android was the best answer.

The google search I posted above is good, but software based, and realistically doesn’t link projects to actions as well as Nozbe. But without a good Android option – and soon, there is no choice.

:-)
Frank Rothmann 29 Mar 11 15:09

The Android app is availible,

nice to see, the android app is availible in the android market. It is a beta release, but as fare as I can see at the moment, it works fine. A realy nice app.

Great job from the nozbe team!

Thank you :)

:-)
BruceMarriott 29 Mar 11 18:03

I hope I am wrong but I can’t find any way to hand sort the Next Actions list – or any list. So I can’t make an action, say in the middle of the list, the top one – as I can in the pc web version. I believe the iPhone app has the ability to hand sort also.

It’s the main reason I’m with Nozbe (and not one of the others that always insist on presenting items in some rigid priority and/or date order). As with Frank’s app if this isn’t there its not something for me. I appreciate others mileage will vary.

Just in case it is in any way relevent – I’m using an HTC Desire.

Congratulations to Nozbe for at last getting the app out and I look forward to seeing it evolve over time to be a great tool.

:-)
Jonathan Buckland 29 Mar 11 18:11

I can’t login. Get error say Please check your username/password. But I have tried to enter my correct info a few times. I have an HTC Desire HD.

:-)
roland 29 Mar 11 18:39

tried logging several times and wont recognize my username/password,

:-)
Frank Rothmann 29 Mar 11 20:17

Hello Jonathan, hello Roland,

first I had also problems with the login (also htc desire): In my case it was the wrong email adress. The HTC-Desire makes the first letter of the adress in uppercase . My adress in nozbe was in lowercase letters.
I’d made the input explicit in lowercase and everything works fine.

The sort feature would be nice, but I think for the first release the app is really great.

Regards

Frank

Michael Schulman 29 Mar 11 20:22

Some comments (I use the original Motorola Droid)

1. I landscape mode I lose the calendar and settings icons
2. I would like the option to open the program in the Next Action screen, or the Inbox at my choosing
3. Is it really that difficult to alphabetize the lists?

Nevertheless, I enjoy the app – glad it’s finally out.

:-)
David V 29 Mar 11 22:00

On HTC Desire, the back button won’t close out the program, why not? All other programs will close out, but not this. I have to hit the home button to go back to home screen.

Yes, thanks for getting the app onto the market.

:-)
Delfina 30 Mar 11 05:28

The Andriod is already in the market. I will open a separate thread for the beta tests and please do post all your comments and bug reports there. It will make things easier. Thank you.

:-)
Nicolas Doye 30 Mar 11 10:57

Is it incompatible with ldpi screens? (see http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/screens_support.html )

I have a Sony Ericsson X10 Mini and would love to be able to use the app.

:-)
gregor 31 Mar 11 08:29

Hi Michael.
After I got an email from you about android application, I’ve downloaded it immediately (even in my car), but now, I’ve few comments:

1. First start – If I don’t remember my password – I cannot exit the application. There is no ‘Exit’ button and the system ‘back’ doesn’t work.
2. While I’m writing my email and password – the application use the dictionary – it shouldn’t.
3. There is no ‘refresh’ button on the task list. I have to go to the home page, start sync, and then back to the task list in on of my projects.
4. In landscape mode all lists are cropped – the slider should recalculate his size or what ? The start screen (with logo) is also stretched in landscape.
5. If I don’t have an account on evernote there is an error in application while trying to add note. The tab should be enabled in settings.
6. Does the ‘sync’ option syncs also in the other direction ?? I don’t see my new created project on my website account.

:-)
