Negative comments on the forum

I followed Michael’s advice about not watching the News because as he said, it should be called Bad News. I knew this already, but it was good to hear someone else say it. I have not watched one news programme since early Jan 2011, and I do feel much happier as a result!

This forum feels like Bad News to me. After reading some of the comments on the forums, I start to doubt Nozbe, when in reality it is the best GTD app around. But when everyone criticises all the time, that negative feeling starts having an effect on me which I don’t like.

That said, I feel the negative comments would almost disappear if the development team let people know what they are working on.

I develop software and resolve IT problems, and my customers think I’m amazing at getting stuff done – not because I’m amazing, but because I update them more than they could possible hope for. I tell them exactly what I’m working on, how long it will take, when it is due to be finished, then I tell them when I’ve released/fixed it. They never have to ask me. However, I have a colleage who never says a word to his customers. He is just as competent as me, but everyone gets very frustrated with him and incorrectly assumes he is ignoring their request and that he doesn’t do anything. My customers are much happier than his.

This was a lesson I learned from a friend of mine who used the analogy of two trains on a track, both delayed by the same problem. On one train, the driver made announcements every few minutes about what was happening up ahead. On the other train, there was silence. Both trains expereinced the same delay, but who do you think were the happier passengers?

So, Nozbe development team, please think about what I have said. I would really like it if this forum became a much more positive place to be… and of course, it would be really good to know who you are and what you are working on.
