Update, Aug 6, 2011: Get Nozbe beta3 for Mac and Windows

Update: Nozbe beta 2 for both Windows and Mac is available for download!

Today at Apple Store Ginza we were proud to announce to Japanese users the first early beta version of our native application for the Mac (Windows version coming next week!).

Click to download Nozbe for the Mac

Notice: It’s a very early beta – there are bugs so if you’re concerned about your data, please wait a little until we publish an updated version next week. We use this app with our data already but we want to warn you just in case. We have tripple backup technology so your data is safe on the server anyway. We count on your feedback :-)

Good luck and hope you’ll love our native Mac client. Windows users – don’t worry – you won’t wait long – we just want to deliver you the best experience possible next week. Stay tuned.

It’s an early version, not everything is implemented yet but we’ll be ironing it out through the next two weeks to make sure it is perfect when it reaches the Mac Appstore… for the price of $0.00 :-)

I assume Evernote and DropBox functionality is upcoming? The app is a little rough in moving around desktop. Appears to shutter back and forth during dragging. Resizing also not too smooth. Action exposure also not always working especially when over the title. Sometimes the title changes to edit mode, but other times it sits there with edit cursor. Have to move to blank space on bar to activate note.

Thanks for your feedback Jeff – we are currently working on that things.

Dropbox & Evernote integration will be available in nearest time.

The screenshot looks great! I’ve been using the Mac app that is currently available through the Mac store (which essentially replicates web-based Nozbe.com), but this looks light years ahead! Great work!

I did a little overview of the Mac App on my blog www.gtdwizard.com and I had one major issue –

‘Currently, I like to create a task in the inbox, drag it to the Calendar (1) to set the date, then drag it to the context (2), then finally drag it to a project (3), it’s my easy way of processing my inbox to zero. This is possible as Calendar, Contexts and Projects are all available on the same screen. Looking at how the desktop app is designed this may not be possible as Projects|Contexts are on the same tab and the calendar is nowhere to be seen yet.’

There’s a picture on the blog also to help explain this – http://www.gtdwizard.com/2011/07/nozbe-mac-desktop-app-beta-overview/

Is the ‘design’ phase of the app done? ie only one column for projects/contexts?

I’ve grown to like the Nozbe 3 column look, it makes Nozbe stand out a little from other GTD offerings, if anything the beta looks a little like Nozbe trying to be a Things/Omnifocus look a like….

If tasks are not alphabetized, the app cannot be the best anything.

I like the look and feel. I would agree with Marcus’s comment above that a 3 column layout – where one drags a task to a designated context or project is one of the core strengths and time savers of Nozbe. Excited to see this in the app store.

Thanks for releasing this early despite the shortcomings. I am wondering how we will get updates/fixes to the beta product as there seems to be no update mechanism in the beta release.

Still waiting for the Windows version! Hope it’s out soon.

Ditto. Been checking the blog every single day since you’re last announcement awaiting the Windows version promised this week!

Thanks everyone! We’ll be shipping the beta2 and the Windows beta tomorrow at the latest. Stay tuned :-)

“We’ll be shipping the beta2 and the Windows beta tomorrow at the latest. Stay tuned :-)”

I stayed tuned yesterday and absolutely nothing happened. Situation normal.

We’re sorry but there were a few bugs in the software we had hard time killing and we didn’t want to ship a problematic build to you. We rescheduled it for today (Friday). Sorry again, we underestimated the scope of this project. We’ll try to do a better job estimating this next time. Thanks so much guys for your support!

Thanks for keeping us updated! Will check back in again later today.

Really, really, really, really looking forward to the Windows version. Have been tortured by coming back every day and not seeing it. Really hoping it comes out today as expected. If not, please keep us updated!
