We’re finishing up the testing phase of the Nozbe for iPhone app and hopefully we’ll have it submitted to the Appstore next week… and then we’ll just have to wait for the dear Apple company to accept our app as quickly as possible.
The Nozbe for iPhone Home Screen
Today I’d like to showcase the home screen of the iPhone app:

The screen has a main menu for easy iPhone-style navigation and the bottom menu for both navigation and adding stuff.
Main menu:
Most of these are pretty similar to your current Nozbe.com interface and the “Project Groups” item is the same as the “Tags” in Nozbe.com. In the new Nozbe UI we’ll be renaming the Tags to Groups which we believe is more intuitive.
The bottom menu will have five icons for quickly navigating back to home and next actions, for syncing and two buttons for quickly adding stuff.
Startup – when you first start the app
Once you’ve downloaded the app, you will be welcomed by a nice screen asking you whether you are a current Nozbe user and would like to sync or you’re just a new guy to Nozbe and want to start right away using the app. In the latter case, you’ll be able to start using Nozbe right away with the same project and context limits as of the free Nozbe.com account.

If you decide to sync your account, you’ll just need to input your login data and your account will be synced right away. Syncing takes just a few seconds as we’ve optimized the amount of data flying between the iPhone app and the Nozbe.com server to the minimum.
Hope you like where the application is going. I’ll keep you posted once we’ve submitted the app to the Appstore and of course I’ll announce the official release once it’s there, so stay tuned.
Let’s hope now we can finish up the last tests ASAP. Thanks for your support!

Comments:
This will be great! I’m really looking forward to trying it out.
If you need a beta tester I would be happy to test and feedback.
The home screen is definitely un-apple-like. Three gaps between the buttons and two buttons together. As ugly as sin.
... but of course I will be very happy to have it on my iPhone :-)
I agree that it needs work visually, but Nozbe can always refine that later. I can’t wait to get my hands on this app.
When will it actually be available though, if it’s submitted this week – how long does it take. I assume it will be free especially if you have an account
Exactly – at this point I cant wait any longer for the native app – Michael has been really good about making enhancements and updates quickly and consistently…and I’m tired of talking about it and hearing abut it…i NEED it!
The app will be submitted on Dec 29 and will show up in the store on Jan 5. I would buy a T-shirt for each day earlier.
Great job Michael! This is the app many have been waiting for, but the wait will be worth the great innovative product you’ve created, not just a warmed over version of the iNozbe web app. And I disagree with the poster on the un-Apple like interface. I want it to look like Nozbe, not Apple. I’ve used both web-based and native apps (over 40 native apps on my phone right now) since the release of the original iPhone and this app looks very good in comparison – it compare favorably with the top productivity apps for the iPhone and iPhone 3G. John
This app really looks great, can we expect something similar for Windows Mobile users? The mobile web version doesn’t provide all features (as editing existing tasks i.e.). Already tried to use inozbe.com in Opera Mobile, but it only works partially.
Thanks for your comments and support. We’re doing our best to have it submitted ASAP and I think we’re on the finish line. Longer than expected but I think it’s important to get the app right. The home screen look we chose is very Apple-like and I really think it looks great – you’ll see once you’ve installed the app.
Again, the app will be free and will have the same limits as your Nozbe.com account. So if you can create only 5 projects, that’s all you’ll be able to create on the app. If you can do 1000, then the sky is the limit :-)
Any chance of an Android app?
I can’t wait to get the calendar on the iphone. That is a great upgrade.
Any chance that we will be able to print our calendar in the new version on-line?
Very exciting! It looks nice and functional. Thank you for the hard work.
The app looks great. I am VERY excited for the implementation. Great work Micheal!
I agree cannot wait for this to get on my iphone. Will make managing to do lists on my flights much easier.
If you can reorder actions in this iPhone app, then nozbe will be for me.
Remember the m any competitiors who already are on the market with a slim price structure
It’s been a week since your last comment. Has it been submitted to Apple yet?
Tomorrow??
Is the new UI coming out today, Jan. 5? Hope, Hope!
I bought an Iphone a couple of days ago. Love it! Great apps. (especially Pandora radio!)
But now it’s time to get back to work.
Where is our Inozbe for the G3? I heard a rumor it might be today??!!
Michael, please give us some update on the progress: Is there any delay? is it because of features or stability? Is Apple causing the delay? Do you expect it to be available before the end of January?
Michael, Can you please give an update on the iPhone app? I purchased a 3g iPhone just to get to Nozbe. When do you expect to be live with the application?
I already gave up and use a competitive product. Glad to have avoided a year contract.
Okay, a status update would be nice (as would having the app), but let’s keep things in perspective here. There is a web app for Nozbe for use on the iPhone that I think works well enough for the time being. If you can’t make Nozbe work for you without a dedicated iPhone app, then no GTD service will ever help you get things done.
Any update on status would be much appreciated.
Ulrich, Which alternative?
@Steve: It would be not polite to mention the competitor here. But there is the market leader with a google-like design. Remember?
Michael, would you say you have 10 days, 20 days or 30 days until you’re ready to ‘submit’ to Apple? I’m okay with waiting but no information is frustrating (as you can see from other posts).
What’s the news? We’re all excited, can you let us in on your schedule?
What is the next step? Michael will show up some day and will teach us that he was to busy to work FOR US. And did not found two minutes to write the blog. And you will read three comments from John and James and the other starting with the words “Great job Michael!” “You did the right decision” “We are so happy with your excellent work.” and “works well enough for the time being”.
Michael, you should talk to the people. Nothing is worse than refusing proper communication. This is a matter of building trust. And trust will be needed for your affiliate program or any form of recommendation to work. If you need more time than tell the people, give the some idea what is going on and how many months this thing will be delayed. If you tell them “it will take another 3 months” than this will be better than waiting another 3 weeks without any word from you.
I just have to agree as I’m tired of checking this post for any kind of information. Maybe it’s just Apple too busy with MacWorld or whatever, just let us know ;)
This is getting silly, I am looking at alternatives now. Which is a shame because I could cope with the web app only, but I’m just losing confidence in the whole Nozbe thing. I mean I assume the native app just doesn’t work and thats the problem, and if thats the case I don’t want to lose my lists in some sych nightmare anyway. Sorry but its too painful
Unfortunately i think i’m out of here as well. For me the central requirement of any GTD system is that i trust it. And at the moment i’m rapidly losing my faith in Nozbe.
While i appreciate the hard work that Michael and his team have put into getting Nozbe to where it is now, this still feels like a part-time project so the thought of going through the inevitable teething problems of a completely new UI and mobile app seems more effort than it’s worth.
While i sincerely hope this all turns out for the best, i think i’ll toodle off to Toodledo.
Michael posted an update here:
http://www.nozbe.com/gtd/forum/section-1/post-bac916c/anxous_about_new_ui
I understood that to be about the new UI for the web, not the iPhone app.
Next week it is :-) I really look forward to having this app on my iphone!
I’m out of here as well. I can’t wait any longer for it. For a while I was recording all of my items in both my existing system as well as Nozbe in anticipation of moving across once the iPhone app became available. This has just become far too burdensome for me, and the lack of communication and continued delays has pretty much killed all the initial enthusiasm I felt for Nozbe.
James, I’d respectfully but completely disagree with you regarding the web app. It’s far too slow, and unusable when there’s no internet access (inside buildings, planes, etc) which means you’re forced to try & remember to enter it in later on. An important part of GTD methodology is that the recording of the item be as quick & painless as possible, and not get in the way. Otherwise you just stop doing it out of frustration.
I’m sure I’ll check back in a month or so, and perhaps by then it will finally have been released. Until then, I’ll stick with what I have now.
Guys, I can’t believe the amount of enthusiasm in this comment thread.
Sorry to have kept you waiting so long but I didn’t know how much testing and tweaking it will be with the iPhone app.
I come from the world of web apps, not “installable” apps and the process is different there.
Anyway, the App has been submitted to the Appstore and all we have to do is wait right now patiently until they’ve approved it.
Anyway, wanted just to thank you for your great support in this and for keeping us motivated with the app :-)
Congratulations on submitting the app!
My App Store icon is going to be worn off from all the check-ins to see if Nozbe is available!
Nozbe is a wonderful tool but I need to find an alternative solution for two reasons – firstly I dont have the iphone so I cant carry my todos around with me, and secondly I dont like the subscription option – would rather pay a higher price for a lifetime subscription.
Need Android app. Will this be years away?
Need Android app. Will this be years away?
android app please
+1 for Android! :-)
yes, need android app, there are already 30,000 android apps, but not a nozbe one? Also, make it use all the new features of android 2.1 (releasing on HTC EVO 4G) next month for Sprint.
Thank you!
+1 for Android here too!
+1 for android … it is making me have to rethink my reliance on nozbe without an easy access to nozbe on my HTC incredible. (I know I can use the inozbe … it’s just not the same as a direct app)
+5 for Android application. I will help port or test if needed, for free. This is the last app needed to break my dependence on iPhone. Nozbe+Evernote+Dropbox+DroidScan = digital ninja! LOL
If the app is going to be free any chance of posting it for those who are jailbroken?
