(Launch) Complete Projects archive - get projects done!

Michael   Monday, June 30
Comments: 13

This month is a great month for Nozbe – we have managed to launch the most requested features like Calendar, Search and today we’re launching:

“Completed Projects”

You can now complete (“archive”) a project and store it for late reference and even bring it back as your active project if you wish to.

Just click on any of your projects, and you’ll see the “Complete” link:

Once you complete a project, it goes to your “Completed Projects” list and you can still view this project there:

Note: The completed projects don’t count against your project limit. Let’s say you’re on a “Solo” Plan and you have created 70 projects and you have only 30 projects left in your plan. When you complete a project, you’ll have 69 projects created and 31 projects left to create…

Re-activate your projects

You can also reactivate a project, i.e. put it back on your active projects list by clicking on the “re-activate” button:

View all of your completed projects

To access all of your completed projects, simply click on the link below all of your active projects:

Hope you like this new feature. We’ve been working hard to make completing your projects as intuitive as possible.

Enjoy, and get some projects done today!

Thank you, Michael!!! What a nice way to start the 3rd quarter! It works just the way it should. It really unclutters my project list while giving me a sense of accomplishment when I look at my completed projects.

This is great. One request, would it be possible change the default action of closing a project to move to the next open project instead of going to the closed project page?

Greate!!!

Is it possible to enable the “Print” or “Email” option for closed projects?

Good progress! Completing and reactivating projects is intuitive and easy.

What plans do you have for finding completed projects? Search doesn’t find them. Tags are not active until project is reactivated. It appears that chronological listing is all that’s available. Suggestions:

Might it be possible to see a tag cloud when viewing the list of completed projects in order to be able to select a tag and to filter completed projects in view just like live projects?

Is it possible to have a check box alongside search to choose whether or not to include completed projects in search?

Fantastic! Thanks for this, now I’m back to Nozbe for sure!

Thanks guys for the heads up! Glad you like the new feature.

As to the requests, the “complete projects” list is intened as a read-only arichve, not as a secondary project list. We’ll be happy to evaluate all the requests and we’ll see what gets added to the complete project list. Thanks everyone!

The tag that I chose for the active projects seem to apply to the completed projects. For example, if I originally had the following projects (tag / project name)
tag_a / Project A1
tag_a / Project A2
tag_b / Project B1
tag_c / Project C1

And then I close Project A2, Project B1 and Project C1.

Under Active Projects, I set the tag to tag_a. And now when I go to completed projects, I only see Project A2.
In order to see Project B1 and Project C1, I have to go back to Active Projects, unset the tag, which is quite annoying. (It almost gave me a heart attack the first time and I thought half of my completed projects were gone!)

Like Peter said, it’d be nice have the same tag cloud in the completed projects page so people don’t get confused.

@Shing – it’s a bug with the tags, it will be corrected. Thanks.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this feature in the News section. This is what I have been waiting for – and can now dispense with all my work arounds to closing projects and retaining documentation. This will save hours of work. Thank you Michael for a great addition to Nozbe. While I really never realized it was an important feature, the News headline is great at keeping me updated, and the tutorials you provide with each new feature are exceptional. I doubt that there is anything else that is so well implemented and supported as Nozbe and iNozbe. Thanks, John

I noticed that the completed projects can still be modified using the old url. For example, if I have an active project named “MyProject” with URL http://www.nozbe.com/account/projects/show-123456789f and then I mark it as completed. The new URL becomes http://www.nozbe.com/account/projects_c/show-123456789f. (Note the additional “_c”.)
However, the project is still accessible using the old URL and you can still add actions to it.
This just happened to me today since I didn’t update my bookmark after the project was completed.

@Shing

Thanks for reporting this bug, it wasn’t intentional and it has been corrected. Now when you click on the old link, it will bring you to the same project page, but in “completed” state – just as it should be.
