Embracing the feedback after Nozbe 2.0 release - thanks everyone!

Michael   Wednesday, August 12
Comments: 49

Wow, what a day, after almost 24 hour marathon to make sure we launch Nozbe 2.0 on time, I’ve received quite a few critical comments after the launch.

I’d like to thank everyone who commented and I welcome more feedback and comments!

I’m very proud and happy to have users so passionate about the product we’ve created.

Thanks – we’re doing this for you!

Let me address your comments and concerns:

1. New Design

The new design is different from “beta” design and you’re right I should have given you a chance to play with it beforehand.

However we’ve tested the new design and I’m sure after a few hours you’ll love it. Of course it’s a personal thing, but I’m sure you’ll find it really pretty and nicer to work with – and as we’ve learned from Apple Inc. – aesthetics is very important when you’re using a tool every day.

Having said that – we’ll be introducing several themes to choose from, different colors, etc. so you’ll be able to fit Nozbe to your liking.

2. Bigger fonts

We are still debating – maybe we’ll make it an option to change the font size or one of the themes will let that – we’re still not decided – but one thing is certain – my experience is that it’s good to see “less” on the screen – if you see too many projects at once, you’re not focused on getting them done, you’re focus on reading all that’s on the screen, with bigger fonts you can focus on getting stuff done that’s in front of your face.

There was another aim with the new design – to make sure you know where your focus is – on your action list in the middle of the screen – and to put everything else a little outside.

Sure, you have to scroll a little more to manage the tasks, but it’s less clutter, more focus, and eventually – more GTD :-)

3. No project indication in “Next Actions” – it’s there now!

Sure, we didn’t get this one right and I’m sorry for that – it’s there now. – please refresh your page.

Now you can see project in both Next Actions view and in each Context view in Nozbe 2.0 – hope you like that we’ve included this one so quickly.

4. No filternig in “Next Actions”

We’re porting the filter as I write this – it should be there in a week at the latest. Sorry for this delay, but we’re on it.

5. Review – it’s there, too!

The much appraised view “Review” is still there and it’s better than in 2.0 but we’ve decided to hide it a little to make sure there is less clutter on the screen.

Just click on the “Projects” link

If you click on the “Projects” link you’ll see all of your projects – makes sense, huh? :-)

It gets even better!

When you have a label active, it’s showing only review of the projects from this label, it’s really useful, just have a look:

Hope you like the new, improved “review” feature and I think it belongs where it is.

And there is more – we’re working on the “review” version for contexts as well so stay tuned – it should be out in a week.

6. Colorful projects

This feature should be also available in a week or so – your current colors of projects in Nozbe classic will be ported, so you won’t lose them.

7. Where is Nozbe classic? It’s there!

At the bottom of the page there is still a link to Nozbe classic (version 1.0) so you can revert to it if you like, especially if the above items are crucial for you, so just use Nozbe classic for a week before all the features will be ported. Or if you have IE6, you need to use classic.

8. Calendar – where are new features?

As I wrote in one of my last posts we’ve got great enhancements for Nozbe Calendar 2.0 but we’re still developing them so we decided to re-schedule the launch of new Calendar – but it’s in the works.

9. Speed

We’ve done our best to make the release as quick and as snappy as possible – I live in Europe and the servers are in the USA and I have a “normal” Internet connection in my home office and I’m noticing great speed improvements although I’m so far far far away from the server.

However speed depends also on the computer, the browser and operating system you are using – so if you have problems or Nozbe is not as quick as it should in some areas – please let me know with exact info on your system settings and we’ll keep on optimizing!

10. And now what?

And now… hopefully you’ll fall in love with the new Nozbe and you’ll understand that we’re doing Nozbe for you and we’re doing everything we can to make sure you’ll have a great experience using it.

So please bear with us as we implement the last missing pieces of the Nozbe classic puzzle and keep sending feedback and your comments!

Again, thanks a million for your support and let’s make Nozbe 2.0 the best productivity tool out there and out here! :-)

Excellent! Nice to see such progress already.

Another bug, though. Moving to this version jumbled the ordering of my project list. No biggie, so I started to fix it. However, every time I get it back in order and reload, it gets jumbled again in random order. Help!

:-)
Dmitry 12 Aug 09 19:27

Thanks for so quick and full answers and explanations. :) All you said sounds real logical so I will try to work with a new design, maybe its really better to have so big fonts and spaces.. Will see :)

And about speed as fr me it’s much more faster then old version. But fir some reasons in my firefox speed app is really slower then on Google Chrome. Maybe some extensions guilty dunno…

:-)
Dale McConkey 12 Aug 09 19:34

Thanks for the updates, the quick response to our concerns, and the positive approach to the criticism! iPhone syncing and email task creation is working again, too. Thanks!

:-)
Amit S K 12 Aug 09 19:55

Thanks for the quick updates! Now it’s starting to look the part.

:-)
Ali 12 Aug 09 20:04

Glad to see the quick upgrades. One feature I’d like to see is a “start date” option. I like being able to set my due dates, but some of my actions need to start a few days before they’re due.

Thanks!

:-)
Eduardo Oliveros 12 Aug 09 20:58

Michael, congratulations again for your quick (and very polite ;) ) answer.
I’m sure, with all your work, there will be no other option competing at the same level of usability and speed with Nozbe.
Your application has been of great help to me, and will be even better… cheer up!

Thanks!

@Mickey, this happened to me using Chrome in the beta version, is this your browser?

:-)
Dmitry 12 Aug 09 21:12

@Eduardo you are right about project order. Is sucks only in Chrome. FF is ok (not in the same order as projects was in old app, but at least I can chenge their order there)

:-)
Ray Anderson 12 Aug 09 21:51

I know that you are working hard, and that it is difficult to receive criticism right away. I appreciate your efforts and your quick response on correcting the project name issue in next actions.

:-)
Chris 12 Aug 09 21:54

I like to use the calendar more often than the “next actions” section. In fact, I wish the app DIDN’T automatically turn actions into “next actions” FOR me. In my planning, I put next action items on the calendar day that I intend to do them. So I wish that the calendar view still had a quick-add.

:-)
Geoff 12 Aug 09 21:56

Thankyou for your quick feedback Michael. It’s refreshing & relieving. Will wait eagerly for next action filtering to come in.

Please seriously consider the spacing of everything/font sizes issue that people have mentioned. This is critical for reducing the time it takes to do our weekly & daily review.

Your comments were
>> my experience is that it’s good to see “less” on the screen

and

>>Sure, you have to scroll a little more to manage the tasks, but it’s less clutter, more focus, and eventually – more GTD

Please listen to your users requests, and perhaps rely less on personal opinion of “what’s best for all”. Sometimes it does sound a little like preaching. I’m sure you don’t mean it.

On a personal level after testing many GTD apps I chose Nozbe Classic originally for it’s ease of moving task priorities around, reducing my review time. The faster you make reviews for people, the better. Maybe even make the “review” section of the site less spacy.

As many have said however, Nozbe is an outstanding application, and once next action filtering comes into place & I can get everything out of my face that doesn’t need to be there, I will adopt be in serious testing mode.

Well done.

:-)
Brian Dabbs 12 Aug 09 23:47

Michael – overall am I pleased with the rework. However, there is a functionallity that I remember in Classic Nozbe that I am not seeing in the new version: when I do a search, I remember getting a list of the projects with that name listed somewhere. I am not seeing that now, and since I usually am searching for the specific project, I miss it tremendously. Also, when I go back to Classic Nozbe and do the search, it just goes to a blank screen and never updates. So, I can’t go back to Classic and pick up the same ability. In addition, when you do a search, the actions and notes come up with out a way to go directly to the project (which I remember being able to do in Nozbe Classic). would love to see these capabilities quickly restored to the new Nozbe. Brian Dabbs

Michael 13 Aug 09 10:16

Thanks everyone for great feedback as always! Thanks for the understanding and bearing with us as we make the new Nozbe 2.0 perfect. Good points about the missing functionality from the classic – we’ll make sure it’s all passed on to the new Nozbe in even a more elegant way than before.

Believe me, we’re doing it as quickly as possible – I strongly hope that by the time all is ported to Nozbe 2.0, you’ve already fallen in love with the new interface and you’ll see how it makes you feel more productive.

Anyway, keep the feedback coming, you guys rock!

:-)
John Pemberton-Bates 13 Aug 09 12:01

Michael. Looking good, and I like being able to move from task to project by clicking on the project…to see all other tasks for that project
One question. When I enter NOW as the date for an activity it gives a time that is FIVE hours behind..(my London/UK time). My settings are set up correctly, and my macbook is in correct time zone etc. I know this is something that used to happen, but is there a cure?
Impressed and thanks.
Regards
John

Mickey Mellen 13 Aug 09 14:24

Regarding item #2: bigger fonts. It’s not necessarily the fonts that are the problem, it’s the padding. I’m ok with how the Actions are listed (they could be a bit smaller, but they’re not too bad), but I’d love to see more padding disappear around the list of projects on the side. The list just goes, and goes, and goes. Any reduction in padding around those would be great!

:-)
Nick Bomford 13 Aug 09 18:00

You asked for feedback to keep on coming…

Project ordering unworkable.
Project name issue in Calendar View (I’d like to set Calendar View as the default opening page)
No tags for Next Actions (would like to prioritise with ‘high, medium, low’ tags)
Cannot start without the Start! tab showing.
Cannot set v.1 as default interface.

Personally I would appreciate the new functionality but with the classic (2-column) v.1 interface.

And it would be good to get the Forum pages properly organized/monitored/moderated – to keep people like me from complaining all the time, or at least to answer users’ concerns.

:-)
Dean Richardson 13 Aug 09 19:10

Hi Michael,
Good new look and feel for the product. I’d like to see “Quick Add” for items as in v1.0, I also do the Calendar view more frequently than Next Action. I also saw someone else suggest the ability to add a “Start Date” — This would be a useful; addition, as I also start items inadvance of the due date.
Cheers,
Dean

Alex Kaufman 13 Aug 09 21:02

Hi – I am new to Nozbe and so didn’t use 1.0, but in 2.0 I have a tiny usability enhancement for you to consider. Should be really easy to add. The little “filter” that can be clicked on the first page (next actions) creates a drop down when clicked. I currently cannot make the filter drop-down go back up unless I click “next actions” again and reload that page.

Please just put a little up-arrow on the filter’s drop down box so it can retreat just as quickly as it appears.

-Alex

Brian Tait 13 Aug 09 22:24

Hi Michael,

Overall, nice work on the redesign. One usability request – could you remove the “add more actions at once” link from the Options section and place it on the main view. Contextually, this section is really for adding task Details and this link is not a “detail”. (I would even suggest that you rename it “Details”) Secondly, this link is about adding actions, so it is awkward to have to click on options to get to it, I should be able to choose this option without having to do so.

Thanks!

- Brian

Michael 14 Aug 09 00:47

Guys, thanks for the suggestions and feedback, we’ve just put filters to Next Actions as some of you just noticed – we’re working really hard on making 2.0 perfect.

Keep the suggestions and feedback coming – we’re listening and we’ll make Nozbe 2.0 great – together. Thanks!

:-)
Guntis 14 Aug 09 09:17

Thanks for having now the project name visible in Next actions view. Is it possible to have the same in Calendar view?

:-)
Michael 14 Aug 09 11:53

Guntis, we’re working hard on a new version of Calendar and we’ll definitely add the project name there as well. Overall, if you spend lots of time in Calendar, you’ll love the changes that we’ll be introucing :-)

:-)
dan shea 14 Aug 09 17:00

Filters now in next actions. WAY 2 GO MIGUEL!
Thanks

:-)
Jacques Laufer 15 Aug 09 07:27

Nice job on getting the filtering into Next Actions so quickly — it is appreciated.

Looks like the Nozbe gadgets in iGoogle and Gmail are no longer working. The error message is “The URL is not valid and cannot be located.” Are you aware of this and is there a new URL to be used in the Gmail gadget.

Thanks!

:-)
Paul Campbell 15 Aug 09 12:29

Morning, Michael,

After a somewhat disappointing first impression at launch, I now have time to sit down today and do a proper shake-down of the new version of Nozbe.

It is a good-looking app and you should be proud of that. Some new features have also to be applauded right away. Turning an action into a project is a big hit for me. Well done!

However, just so you fully understand my comments on launch; after Nozbe being a year late with v2 and having given you a very high level of feedback on first launch of Beta 2 some months ago, I was was massively disappointed to see that the final release of v2 was peppered with the same faults that had I had loyally reported to you back at Beta 2 (which were actually fixed in the Beta back then). Even today, I cannot understand how you could allow V2 to go live with these GTD basics missing [knowing which project each next action belongs to, for excample).

BUT I wwas impressed by your speed of recovery from such a disaster at launch. Your blog post was detailed and you did appear responsive to the disappointment of many of your more ardent fans.

So, I’ll take one last proper look this weekend.

I will post as clearly and helpfully as I can today (and possibly tomorrow).

First off, I have a problem with your new implementation of “Review”.

http://www.nozbe.com/page/forum/section-2/post-7e7e4b9

:-)
Paul Campbell 15 Aug 09 13:31

It is a relief to see the return of Next Action filtering. Thanks, Michael.

I am disappointed that it has not delivered any of the enhancement requests I and others have logged over the past year. It is simply the same funtionality that we always had, returned to us.

So, what about the enhancements paying users hve requested all this time?

The most common ones I see are:

SINGLE DROP DOWN LIST – the single drop down list can be cumbersome, especially for super-users of Nozbe/GTD, whi could have hundreds of items across labels, contexts and projects. An improvement would be to provide more than one drop-down list, allowing direct access to filtering by either labels, contexts or projects. Way less scrolling.

MULTIPLE FILTERS – Filtering is at its most powerful when a user can apply multiple filters – when will Nozbe be able to allow us to, say, filter our Next Actions by “Calls” (context) we need to make for “Building Project” (projects) to “Key Suppliers” (label)?

FILTER BY OWNER/ RESPONSIBLE PERSON – Nozbe has only ever been able to show every next action on the system, regardless of the owner. The vast majority of the time I only want to see my own Next Actions. Though it would also be hugely valuable to be able to see the Next Actions of one member of my team that I delegate to often. So when will Nozbe be able to provide filtering by owner responsible for the action?

Given that these have been so longstanding, I would feel mre engaged with the Nozbe development team if they would even indiate that these are under development and will be released at some time. It is the complete lack of feedback that I find most frustrating.

Hope that you take this feedback in the spirit intended. Open, honest and hoping to help you help us to remian loyal (paying!) fans of Nozbe.

:-)
Paul Campbell 15 Aug 09 13:47

Michael, I wrote to you on 11 July, using the questions@nozbe.com email address. Since then I have had no reply at all regarding the feedback I provided.

I had actually hoped that you would find this feedback really valuable, given that it was formed over a period of many weeks while working with the Director of Coaching for David Allen’s own company.

She has been working with three of my most senior managers to improve their use of GTD to stay focussed, productive and stress-free. She has made huge improvements already but we all have some way to go.

One of the most exciting results of this coaching access to a key executive of David’s was the insights into how GTD tools could be better designed to deliver the GTD methodology faithfully and so release more productive power.

As I have not been able to engage with you on this yet, I’ll now put this into this forum and hope that it excites some dabate and support from fellow GTD enthusists here.

The first insight from our coaching was the power of alphabetical sorting of the project list.

The bottom line is that a core belief of David Allen is that we can be hugely more productive if we maintain simple alphabetical sorting of our lists. Nozbe, as you all know, does not allow us to do this easily (only laborious manual drag-and-drop). David’s staff (and now my managers) all feel strongly that Nozbe is not supporting the GTD methodology enough in this area.

I’ve posted at length on this in the “Features and Feedback” forum here:

http://www.nozbe.com/gtd/forum/section-1/post-f7ca4ba/v2-missing_gtd_essential-alphabetical_sort_of_projects

Would love to hear all of your thoughts…

:-)
Paul Campbell 15 Aug 09 13:54

A second insight from our coaching with David Allen’s company was the somewhat “mangled” approach Nozbe takes to a proper “GTD INBOX” and how Nozbe forces us to add actions into Nozbe “projects” that are actually simple single steps towards a desired outcome – no project needed.

The bottom line one thse core beliefs of David Allen is that we must strive to keep our active projects list as short as possible (and your “Inbox” does NOT belong on that list) and that an inbox is only for collection and processing (not storing single-step actions).

After coaching, we now all feel strongly that Nozbe is not supporting the GTD methodology enough in this area.

I’ve posted at length on this in the “Features and Feedback” forum here:

http://www.nozbe.com/gtd/forum/section-1/post-285a4bb/v2-missing_gtd_essential-inbox_is_not_a_project_/_not_all_actions_belong_to_projects

Hope to hear your own thoughts on this tricky area of implementing GTD properly…

:-)
Paul Campbell 15 Aug 09 14:16

A third insight from our coaching with David Allen’s company was the “Inbox short-cutting” that Nozbe creates when anyone allocates an action to another person they share the Nozbe project with.

The bottom line on this core belief of David Allen is that ALL new items for EVERYONE MUST go into their INBOX for PROCESSING.

Of all the lessons learned from our coaching so far from Davidco I think this is the aspect of Nozbe that the coach was most “horrified” about. It gives me real concern, especially as V2 appears to work in the same way.

After coaching, we now all feel strongly that Nozbe is not supporting the GTD methodology at all in this area.

I’ve posted at length on this in the “Features and Feedback” forum here:
http://www.nozbe.com/gtd/forum/section-1/post-c8ba4be/v2-missing_gtd_essential-actions_delegated_to_others_do_not_appear_in_their_inbox

This is such a vital flaw in supporting the GTD methodology that I would be particularly keen to hear your views on it…

:-)
Paul Campbell 15 Aug 09 14:28

A fourth insight from our coaching with David Allen’s company was that Nozbe does not provide a natural home for GTD-style LISTS that DO NOT belong to Projects.

The bottom line on this core belief of David Allen is that Project Lists should be kept lean, so that we do not go numb to them. LISTS are one answer to ensuring this happens.

Many of the thoughts and ideas we have can more usefully be parked in a “reference” area that we may access later (someday/maybe?) only when the need arises.

These are David Allen’s LISTS and everyone at Davidco and their coaching clients make huge use of these, completely separate for project lists, projects files, actions and next actions.

After coaching, we now all feel strongly that Nozbe is not supporting the GTD methodology at all in this area.

I’ve posted at length on this in the “Features and Feedback” forum here:
http://www.nozbe.com/gtd/forum/section-1/post-a4d24bf/v2-missing_gtd_essential-list_management_is_forced_into_the_project_list

Would love to hear your thoughts on this “most misunderstood” pasrt of GTD...

:-)
Paul Campbell 15 Aug 09 14:45

I really like your wider implementation of the user icons across Nozbe. It looks gerat and improves usability – a lot!

:-)
Chelsea 16 Aug 09 19:51

I just wanted to let you know that I find the functionality superb and your responsiveness during this launch exceptional. While I have only fairly recently subscribed and so do not have the history that it seems many of these folks do, I wanted to also chip in that there are those of us that are very happy with how you have structured this application and your plans for even more usability. I have tested a lot of these systems and yours, even with the kinks that still need to be worked out, far surpasses any of the others that I’ve tried and it has a very reasonable price structure.

One question for you or other users: is there a way to view completed project tasks? Many of my projects are on quarterly or annual cycles and being able to have a saved project task list would be very useful.

Thanks for your hard work on this — it shows!

:-)
Michael 17 Aug 09 08:17

Chelsea – thanks for great praise and for your support!

Paul – yes user icons will be used more in Nozbe 2.

Paul, while I appreciate you being telecoached and all, I need to disappoint you saying Nozbe is not striving to be the “official GTD” application – while I love GTD and have studied it deeply, I believe the complexity of the system makes many people give it up after a while. This is why I believe all the lists, containers, projects, etc. should be called PROJECTS like in Nozbe and later they can be customized by each user, delegated actions should appear as next actions to the delegatee and should stay in the project they belong, and most importantly – Nozbe does implement most of GTD but may not call it the same way the GTD guys would call it and all “workarounds” are very doable and very easily implemented in Nozbe.

Nozbe’s goal is not to stick to all official GTD terminology – our goal is to help our users get more stuff done in the easiest and quickest way

:-)
Paul Campbell 17 Aug 09 09:11

This is disappointing, Michael.

I do appreciate you clarifying this for me, as I have had quite the wrong impression of your goal for Nozbe.

I had interpreted your many alignments with David Allen as a key one for you to deliver the methodology faithfully (Nozbe advertising campaigns on David Allen’s site, your first cover feature of David in your launch issue of your new magazine, Productivity and your extensive coverage of Nozbe at the recent GTD Summit). I can see now that this was perhaps more about the hard business of attracting paying customers than a deep professional allegiance.

I am striving for a product that will deliver GTD fully as I believe that this is the best way to use it and takes no additional effort to do so that we can see in my company.

I can’t really see how Nozbe’s changes reduce the “complexity” of GTD, so there we will have to agree to differ.

All we see here is that by using all of the features of GTD faithfully, we become significantly more productive.

Thanks again for calrifying though, Michael and I wish you well with your own approach to improving productivity. That’s always a good thing!

:-)
Oliver Cornes 17 Aug 09 17:23

I use GTD, that’s why I signed up with a GTD app. I need LISTS for notes, I need an INBOX – they are critical. If I have to keep thinking “which project?” every time I create an action it creates friction and means I write less of them down. And the idea of using Projects to store Lists (travel checklist, holiday wishlist, for example) doesn’t make any sense to me.

But my biggest irritation is that v2.0 has been released without proper testing, and most of my feedback in the forums has been ignored – Michael you say we “rock” – but why not enough to actually take the time to address reasonable concerns from your paying customers.

You may think I “rock” – but all I feel right now is a palpable lack of respect from you for me as a customer.

And PLEASE, bring back project search!

:-)
Michael 18 Aug 09 04:17

Paul, you’re taking it all the wrong way, and I’m hurt to learn that from your last post.

David Allen is my productivity guru and all my connections with him through the magazine, GTD summit (he personally invited me to attend), etc. I did because I wanted get to know him and learn from him. And I have learned a lot.

However actually after talking to Davidco coaches I found out that most of their clients don’t embrace entire GTD and fall off the wagon very frequently.

My goal with Nozbe is to make the GTD simple enough so that people could actually stick to it and implement this in their life… and on the other hand flexible enough so that power users could also benefit from the app.

Although I want to be in touch with David and his coaches, and I respect very much anything they do, I have my users to whom I want to create the best GTDesque experience possible, as simply as possible.

Nozbe’s tagline has always been: “Simply Get Things Done” and this hasn’t changed.

Having said that, we’ll be introducing more aspects of pure-blood-GTD in the future: we’ll introduce inbox, we’ll add delegating of tasks in non-shared projects and a couple of more cool features (yes, sorting too) but I’m not aspiring to be the “designed for GTD” app – I want the app to be “designed for productive people”.

Oliver, sorry you feel this way, we’re reading forums and listening to feedback. And we’ll bring back the project search. It just had to be delayed.

:-)
Paul Campbell 18 Aug 09 19:33

Hi Michael. Bit confused here to be honest. I’m unsure what prompted such a bad feeling for you?

I had hoped you would understand my recent posts being just to help you understand in light of assumptions we made from all that you have done in the past linking up with Davidco and David Allen himself.

I really did interprest this as you having a mission to deliver an app that supports all of GTD, not just parts of it. You have to understand that some of your customers will make assumnptions like this from alliances you promote. I don’t feel that was a leap too far.

As someone who wants to implement the full version, I hoped that you would understand my disappointment on discovering I had got that wrong.

But I am much clearer now. Thanks for that. I understand that you want to make your own mark in productivity services and applaud you for that. Perhaps your way will prove to be better for the majority of people seeking ways to improve how they get things done.

Great to hear that you are considering enhancements around the UI for inbox and the delegation workflow through the Nozbe inbox. I think that would make a tremendous difference to GTD purists like me. It may even prove to be less confusing for GTD newbies?

But I am considering all that you have said these past few days. I am keeping an open mind and if I can see that Nozbe’s “real world” GTD supports my team better than “official” GTD I will have no hesitation to come back here and congratulate you for that.

Best wishes for the next steps for new Nozbe.

:-)
Michael 19 Aug 09 08:53

Thanks for your comments Paul!

I believe the most important things in GTD that have revolutionized the way I’m personally getting things done are: Projects, Next Actions and Contexts – and while many software products let you create projects and put your to-dos there – it’s the implementation of Next Actions and Contexts that really make the difference.

Now, if I can get non-GTDers or beginning GTDers to start using these three, they’ll see a great difference in their lives and will get hell of a lot more done.

Having said that I’m still looking out for ways how to implement full GTD into Nozbe, while keeping it as simple as possible and while not distracting users from these three fundamentals.

And I’m counting on users like you, Paul, that will help me get this done. :-)

:-)
croteau 20 Aug 09 00:29

I just signed up and just happened to do so right after the 2.0 upgrade. Now I can just learn the new version!! But I wanted to read the documentation and found that some or even a lot of it is for the old version. Is there a way to get documentation only for 2.0? When I go through the nozbe help home and use links to the left on the page—a lot seems to be the old version.

:-)
Brian Tait 20 Aug 09 16:32

Michael,

An additional feature from v1 that is not (I can’t find it) in v2 is the ability to add tasks to the top or the bottom of a project. Is this on the list of features that haven’t yet been moved from v1?

creoteau – documentation is being worked on right now – just check the video to see how the new Nozbe 2.0 works

Biran – yes, we haven’t moved this feature yet, but it will be moved next week, thanks!

Michael – Great work on 2.0! Change is hard, and it took me a few days to get used to everything – but overall, excellent!

A couple of comments…

1) My Projects list extends down the page quite a bit, which is fine. But when I click on a Project to view its Actions, I would prefer that the app take me to the top of the page/screen. When I click on a Project now that is not near the top, I have to scroll up to the top to see the Next Actions. Sometimes I can’t even tell if my mouse click went through, since the page doesn’t appear to change/refresh when I’m near one of my “lower” Projects.

2) Bring back the 2-minute clock! That was a neat little feature!

Thanks again for a great app, Michael! Kudos to you and your team for all your hard work!

Comment for Paul on Actions without Projects – I have a Project on my Nozbe that I called “Single Tasks”. I placed it immediately under my Inbox, and I use it as my “bucket” for any Actions that are one-step and don’t require their own Project.

Just a thought!

Juan, I use a similar method (a Project called “One-Offs”) and that works well.

I’m also likin’ Nozbe 2.0. It seems to think the way I do and also is a simpler setup than many others I’ve tried. I thought I wanted or would use all those features but they only got in my way. Nozbe seems to work well.

I haven’t yet dumped OmniFocus or Toodledo, but… as the Magic 8-Ball might say, “All signs point to yes.”

notes function not working. I tried to enter the same note twice. After saving, note does not appear on web, nor does it appear after synching with iPhone. This is a crucial fix so important info does not drift away.

I enter an action under a project but it goes away then and is listed under the first project on my list not the project under which I entered it?

David and Croteau – both your comments relate to the same small issue we had on the date you wrote it but we managed to fix this quickly. Enjoy Nozbe 2.0!

I have been piloting nozbe with my team at the United Nations and we are using it to improve our project management, however, we are often asked to report (print) a status list of actions by the assigned person as this is how management wants to see the distribution of work and progress. Is there any way to do this or at least export action data to a spreadsheet that we can then maniputlate – this is a big hurdle to wider acceptance of the product

Suzanne, the printing capability is already in Nozbe and we’re working right now on better printing also for “completed actions” and for calendar and other aspects of Nozbe, so stay tuned!

Michael,

I posted this on the user forum, but the Project Review function doesn’t seem to be working at the moment. Clicking on “Projects” brings up an empty pane in the middle of the screen where the Projects and Actions should be.

Thanks,

Juan
