Appstore welcomes Nozbe - Get it Done! free native application for the iPhone and iPod Touch

Michael   Friday, February 6
Comments: 27

Today, Friday, February 6th is the day your Nozbe application appeared in the Apple App Store!

Now your iPhones and iPod Touches will turn into real productivity tools with a serious “Getting Things Done” twist to it!

The app is called:

Nozbe – Get it Done!

... and it’s a free download!

I’ve prepared a special page for this:

Nozbe.com/iPhone

Hope you like what you see (and touch) on your iPhone. Please let me know what you think in the comments.

Remember – this is version 1.0 – based on this version I’ll gather feedback from you and we’ll iterate and prepare new versions in the future.

If you have any issues with the app, maybe with syncing, please post your thoughts and reports in the Nozbe forum

Thanks everyone for your input and for motivating us to get it done and to have the app in the Appstore!

One more thing: if you like the app, don’t be shy and post your reviews in the Appstore for others to know! Thanks!

Congrats Michael. I just happened to be in the app store and up popped Nozbe. I’ve downloaded and installed the app and am syncing right now. Wo Ho!

:-)
John Kendrick 6 Feb 09 23:30

Still attempting to synch after several tries and about 20 minutes, keeps telling me No Internet connection, but I’m on a strong wifi network and everything else is working, including iNozbe. Perhaps millions of people are trying out the app ;-)

:-)
John Kendrick 6 Feb 09 23:33

Seems to be halting about 2/3 way through the sync, at least according to the progress bar. I have an awful lot of data in my account, could that be an issue?

:-)
Mickey Mellen 7 Feb 09 01:17

It works nearly flawlessly for me. I posted about a relatively small but in the forum, but I’m loving it!

:-)
Jose Fuentes 7 Feb 09 01:39

works flawlessly for me. congrats michael !

:-)
Michael 7 Feb 09 04:36

Guys, thanks for the heads up.

@John. Please contact me and let me know how it went. If you didn’t manage to sync, let me know.

We have tested the app with different kind of data. My account synced, but there might be issues with syncing – we are monitoring all syncing activity and searching for possible errors/problems. We’ll try to fix these ASAP. Please post your experieince on teh forum or just email us directly.

Have a great weekend and thanks for your support!

:-)
Tom Arbuthnot 7 Feb 09 09:26

Works great here so far and looks good too, thanks!

Bjørn Børresen 7 Feb 09 11:05

works perfect, thanks! :-D

I sent you an email Michael, but for the benefit of others who may have suggestions, here is what I have done.

-Uninstalled and reinstalled the app in iTunes and on the iPhone
-Logged out of all Nozbe sessions, at work, home, dashboard, etc.
-Restarted computers running Nozbe
-Shutdown and restarted iphone several times
-Try Nozbe app before starting any other apps on the phone
-Though I have a strong fast wifi connection, I tried turning off wifi and syncing with 3G. 3G signal is also very strong and results are the same. (All other apps including iNozbe are accessing the Internet with no problems.)

Continues to try to sync on startup, says “In progress…” on the Synchronize screen and progress bar starts at 2/3 complete not at beginning, and does not move. About 45 seconds later, error says “No Internet Connection! Please try to sync later.” Click OK and Nozbe home screen displays.

iTunes reports that I have 3.49GB free space on the 16gb phone. My next step will be to restore the iPhone, but wanted to see if other suggestions were available before doing that.

John, thanks for the report and sorry to hear you have problems syncing.

We’re right now investigating why in some cases the sync does not work as it should, just like in your case. We’ve improved backend on the server side and now most syncs should work without a problem, but I guess some syncs require an update on the client side (the app).

Again, in most cases the sync should work without problems, but we’re now doing our best to spot out the problematic syncs and fix them.

Thanks for bearing with us as we make sure all the syncs work flawlessly.

(Believe me guys, we have tested many syncs many times in many ways… but we couldn’t have spotted all the problems when in development, so I appreciate all the feedback you can give us).

:-)
John Kendrick 7 Feb 09 16:15

Thanks Michael – we are very fortunate to have iNozbe, it was/is a great web app and will serve well while the remaining kinks are worked out. I love the new app and can’t wait to put it to work! John

Bruce Wilcox 7 Feb 09 19:34

Works great for me. Installed and synched with no problem. Great job!

One question – is there any way to filter the “Next Actions” view like there is on the website?

:-)
Ulrich 8 Feb 09 04:11

OK, now the US store shows an average of three stars. And as always some funny comments. I mostly like the five-star by a certain Michael. He says that he returned to Nozbe from Omnifokus because of the iPhone app. He switched after the Nozbe app was available just some hours. I really believe him :-)

Peter Schaufuss 8 Feb 09 09:57

Hi Michael

Just wanted to let you know that syncing FROM my iPhone seems to be working great now (it didn’t work yesterday) so whatever you have done at your end seems to have fixed it for me.

:-)
Michael 8 Feb 09 12:42

@Bruce, we’ll be adding filtering in the next iteration of the app. We just wanted it to be out there in Appstore ASAP.

@Peter, great it’s working for you now, we’re still monitoring and working on making sure all the syncs work.

@Urlich. I’m not commenting on my apps anywhere. I’m not the only Michael on the planet.

:-)
Ulrich 8 Feb 09 15:40

@Michael Dont defend yourself before you are accused :-) May I make one more suggestion: If you ever revise the submitted screenshots, it would be a good idea to avoid the polish (?) words “spacja” and “Gotowe”.

:-)
Dominik 9 Feb 09 07:40

Hi Michael! Congrats. In Poland (Wrocław) works perfectly!

:-)
Michael 9 Feb 09 09:26

@Dominik, glad it works perfecty for you, in Gdynia it works great too :-)

@Urlich Good point, I’ll revise the screenshots amd change the lenaguage to English.

:-)
Andy Foot 10 Feb 09 02:41

Hi Michael
The synching of the app worked great for me. I have not spent much time with the iphone app but have noticed that the note details window is very small and requires a lot of scrolling to read it. Any chance you can reconfigure that screen to use more of the available space for the actual note versus the note title, project and context

keep up the good work

Andy

Mathias 10 Feb 09 09:19

The one issue I have is when I want to add an action for a specific date, but no time. I can’t do it on the iPhone :-(

Looking forward to the Update

Mathias

qlake 10 Feb 09 16:08

Works great. Many thanks. Quintin

Tracey 10 Feb 09 16:54

I love that it’s so FAST – that’s a huge win.

:-)
Marcin Bablok 11 Feb 09 08:59

Hello Michael,

it seems I have a problem with iPhone->webapp syncing: marking an action on next actions as done in an iPhone does not appear as ‘done’ on the webapp. The other way it works. Exiting iPhone nozbe app does not help.

Anyway: Dobra robota!

:-)
Mark Williams 11 Feb 09 09:26

Unfortunately the synchronisation is still flawed – I’ve left my (bad) experiences in the forum for you to pickup. The main problem seems to be changing data on the iPhone is not reliable. I’ve created an action on the iPhone and seen it on the web (an improvement over a few weeks ago when the action never showed up), but the order of items in the “Next Actions” list differs on iPhone and web (annoying but not critical), but more problematic is that making an action “Next Action” on the iPhone is not at all synchronised to the web (makes the iPhone app completely unusable because one main purpose does not work at all). Believe me I’ve tried many combinations of restarting, refreshing and re-sync’ing). Once the fundamental sync issues are resolved it will be a huge improvement over the old iPhone interface though. I just can’t rely on it yet. Mark

:-)
Michael 11 Feb 09 16:16

@ Marcin, Mark

The sync doesn’t work well when there are non-English letters/words used in Nozbe. We’ve corrected this error in the client app and I have submitted version 1.0.1 to the Appstore.

Tomorrow we’ll iron out other bugs and problems and have 1.0.2 ready in no time.

We’re reacting quickly to make sure you’ll all enjoy great native Nozbe experience :-)

oded binnun 12 Feb 09 12:34

Hi Michael,
I’d like to join Andy Foot’s comment regarding the unexplainable short space given for viewing/writing notes…
Other than that its a lifesaver app!
Thanks a lot!

Nozbe has been a life-changer for me. I’ve never put a lot of faith in the myriad productivity tools, systems, applications, forms, gadgets, tips, tricks, techniques, frameworks, philosophies, etc., ad nauseum, because so many seem require an enormous investment of time just to answer the question “What do I need to accomplish today?” Nozbe makes it really simple to build and manage prioritized task lists, associated with one’s various projects, and assign dates to each task. Nozbe means that I can invest 5-10 minutes a day being thoughtful about how I use my time, so I know I’m on the fastest route toward my goals.
