Nozbe web redesigned. Less green, more contrast, faster feel.

It’s summer but we’re not resting and we keep on bringing you new goodies that will help you be even more productive when you’ve come back after summer vacation. Here’s what we just shipped for you:

Nozbe.com account got a facelift – is more modern, less green and has a few new features! Nozbe.com facelift will make you more productive!

We’ve been listening. Nozbe’s design dates back to the summer of 2009 so it was time for some tuning. First off, our new talented designer Radek focused on making the interface “lighter” and faster with more CSS goodness and less HTML. This means, the projects will load faster and the overall feel will be just better.

Less green. It’s still there, but less powerful. And new color themes will come soon, so you’ll be able to customize it even more.

New bubbles for choosing task details – help you see quickly what you chose for a particular action.

… one more thing – Android and iPhone and iPad

We’re now also busy preparing new releases of our mobile clients and hope to have them soon on your headsets. We are determined to bringing you the fully-working native Nozbe experience across the board of all the most popular platforms by the end of the summer, so our mobile clients are very important to us.

Thanks so much for your support, meanwhile:

Nicely done. Thank you for your continuing efforts.

Denis Guenther 21 Jul 11 15:26

looks really nice, great work

Federico Stafforini 21 Jul 11 15:45

Nice. Please let us choose the background colour!
And give us a way to see your roadmap and vote on requests, it’s a shame how you answer to some requests in the forums with “this has been requested and we’re working on it” without further details. Eg: multiple filtering criteria requested since 2009, imho the glaring omission in nozbe.

Björn Zinkler 21 Jul 11 16:07

Excellent work – with Nozbe getting things done makes even more fun :-) !!!

Texafornia 21 Jul 11 16:20

Nice! Can’t wait for the colors! I remember working with another (less powerful) GTD app that allowed you to choose the color scheme and it was super cool.

:-)
Paul LeBlanc 21 Jul 11 16:26

Looks great! Thanks for fixing my pet peeve — the way the stars worked. One system is much better.

:-)
Ralph Thompson 21 Jul 11 17:20

I opened Nozbe with trepidation this morning. I didn’t know what to expect—but it looks great. The changes are incremental, so I don’t have to change by workflow. One item I would like to see: When I print a project it would be helpful if completed actions also printed. That way I would have a complete picture of where I’ve been and where I’m going with a project. Thanks for the good work.

Michael Gallagher 21 Jul 11 17:25

Looks great! I can’t seem to use a bubble to choose a project anymore…wondering if I’m missing something obvious. (Also, while the mac and windows versions look great, please remember some of us use linux…keeping the web client going is a big help to those of us in the minority). Thanks!

:-)
Michael Gallagher 21 Jul 11 17:26

Doh! Nevermind. Yes, I was missing something obvious…no problem with choosing projects. Sorry about that. Love the new interface!

:-)
Ray Anderson 21 Jul 11 20:37

The look is refined and functional. So far I like what I see.

One suggestion is to make the stars slightly darker after they’ve been selected. I do like how they show up much darken when the curser hovers over them, but once the selection is made, the stars are too faded for my tastes. I had to look twice to make sure that something was a next action.

Ahhh.

Want to second Fredeericos comments on choosing color, would also as that we be able to add our own icons for contexts, Nozbe v. limited. Finally, agree with Raph T’s comments about printing/using completed tasks, they shouldn’t drop off map, you often want to refer or use them again!! Also, really need a nicer way to handle contacts. I know the challenge…100’s of contact formats…so just give a way to let Nozbe keep them then! I trust Nozbe as much as my Droid or iPhone

Will the new iPad/iPhone apps have filtering by labels on them? I (and others) have been asking for this for months now.

:-)
Michael 22 Jul 11 10:41

Thanks everyone for the great comments and glad you like the redesign.

The iPad/iPhone apps should be updated soon with the most requested features there.

Thanks for your suggestions, we’re looking at them and we’ll hope to bring you an update with more color themes soon.

@Mark – the completed tasks section will be totally rewritten and made perfect for reporting and such… we also want it badly :-)

:-)
Art Hung 22 Jul 11 21:04

the new look is nice; having trouble being able to drag/drop notes to re-order them within a project. Having this problem with IE8, Chrome 12 and Firefox 3.6

:-)
JulieQL 23 Jul 11 08:30

I’m sorry but so far, I don’t like the new design. Less green, ok, but less color? I almost can’t see the starred items, but more important I can’t see the contexts!

I use contexts very much. Since I have a lot of tasks in my job, it helps me prioritize quickly.

So my wish is that contexts be more visible, and that you give us more icons (colorful icons) to choose.

Another detail: in the French version, there is a spelling mistake “temps nécéssaire” should be written “nécessaire”.

I hope things are going to change quickly because I just started to use Nozbe a few weeks ago, and now I’m a bit disappointed.

In general: looks good, easier to use, improved user experience.

The only thing I miss from the older version is, in the NEXT ACTIONS: I could ARROW DOWN->ENTER through the FILTERS, and quickly review all my NEXT ACTIONS. The mouse is much slower.

It would be great to be able to rotate through the FILTERS with the keyboard again. For that matter, rotating the LABELS and CONTEXTS with the keyboard would be nice too.

While I’m here, in the Project view, it would be nice to have toggle of SHOW ALL/TOP 3 ONLY for ALL the projects at once.

Overall, great tool, it even has me close to organized.
thanks,
Alan

AppliedCH 24 Jul 11 08:48

Feature request: in the NEXT ACTIONS FILTERS, if we could select from multiple options at once, for example all Calls(from CONTEXT) for Business(from LABELS)...and a remove all FILTERS button.

I’ll shut up now.
Alan

I agree with JulieQL about the difficulty in seeing the context icons. The washed out colours make it more difficult to read the project names for the tasks in ‘Next Actions’ too. All in all there’s much less contrast than before.

I did find another minor problem not related to the colours. When you click on an action heading to edit it, the icons for the contexts disappear which is fine. If you click on the title again, the icons return. But if you click on the title of another action without closing the first, the first action will close, but the context icons don’t return.

Good work. The look and feel has improved. I have not as yet plumbed all the new changes. I know you have been working hard on multiple platforms and making a lot of progress, and we all in your user community are grateful that you have given us so much in the last year.

That said, and not to be a party pooper, but there are two things missing that I would like to see. First, like Alan above, I would like to be able to filter Next Actions cumulatively, rather than exclusively. When I choose one label, I would like to be able to view all Next Actions with that label of a particular Context. But if I choose label, Context and Project filters are turned off. Can’t you allow us to have multiple filters, not just one at a time. It would make accessing Next Actions much more productive. Like Alan, a turn off all filters button would be necessary if you gave us this.

The other comment is like an old broken record for me. I want to see Actions / Tasks in date order, ascending or descending. This has been promised since last year, and we still don’t have it. It makes no sense to have actions prosented Willy-Nilly in whatever order, instead of in order by date. This should be automatic, with an option to choose ascending or descending order. When can you give us this?

:-)
Rafał Sobolewski 25 Jul 11 20:08

Great work! I’m really looking forward for update of Android App!

:-)
Ted Werth 25 Jul 11 22:37

I like the idea of the dropdowns for context, etc. But I’m not a fan of how difficult it is so associate a time for the scheduled date. I don’t understand why I have to enter both the date and the time when the date has already been selected on the calendar. puzzling…

:-)
Cory Kent 26 Jul 11 21:59

Great work! IDEA1: put the ‘add comment’ option in the ‘optional parameters’ view when adding a new task/action. IDEA 2: when viewing a project or context, it would be helpful to have sort options (date due, custom order, etc).

:-)
Karen Roberts 27 Jul 11 23:07

I’m a new Nozbe user on the iPad and Mac. I like the Mac widget but would love to add task by:

  • Dragging email (from Mac Mail) over my Nozbe widget to generate a new task.
  • Highlighting text and then right-clicking and selecting “Add task” from the ddrop-down menu.

The application “Things” does both of these and they’re the only features missing from Nozbe for me! Keep up the great work!

:-)
Douglas Brown 9 Aug 11 05:03

Nice UI changes. Nozbe just keeps getting better and better.

:-)
Ed Schwartz 3 Sep 11 16:58

We would like more Icon choices, the list is way to limited. Also we have high resolution monitors, can Nozbe take advantage of the extra space we have on these displays?
