(Launch) Nozbe Calendar

Michael   Thursday, June 12
Comments: 36

Today I’m proud to announce a revolutionary feature in Nozbe – your simple GTD tool – let me introduce:

“Nozbe Calendar” – What’s up in a few days?

Just log in to your Nozbe account and have a look:

What’s due, what’s this week, this month…

The purpose of the Nozbe Calendar is to see all of your coming actions at a glance and plan your week or month easier…

Now you can see at a glance what’s up in the next 7 days, 30 days… or even next 3 months.

Subscribe using iCal

Your can integrate your Nozbe calendar with any other calendar that supports “iCal” standard, meaning you’ll be able to track your actions in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar…

Powerful “Drag and Drop”

Change a deadline time? Change a date? Just Drag the action to a different day and… presto!

Collaborative Calendar

If you work in a team and you’re sharing projects together, you’ll see all of the coming actions from shared projects as well. This way you’ll know what’s up in all of the projects you participate in…

Nozbe Calendar means better planning, transparency and time management in your life, team and family

Hope you like this new feature – enjoy!

Note: We’ve prepared Nozbe Calendar for you and have currently some additional improvements in mind to make it even better… so you’re more than welcome to post your comments and feedback!

Fantastic, this is the one feature that have been waiting for. Can not wait for the improvements, but must say that I am very happy with what I have seen so far.

:-)
Andreas Müller 12 Jun 08 21:16

Super!!!

:-)
Nick Bomford 12 Jun 08 21:51

The image above my head says it all! That’s your sales graph.

:-)
Ulrich 13 Jun 08 02:57

Gratulation! Now we know where you have been in the last weeks: You have been busy.

:-)
Ulrich 13 Jun 08 03:14

The project is not mentioned in the calendar?

:-)
Ryan Hartman 13 Jun 08 04:48

Very nice! Could be one of the last pieces of the puzzle for me. Now, if only we could add multiple tasks with separate due dates for each task? This might allow for the importing of text file project templates that lay out crm style sales processes?

:-)
Michael 13 Jun 08 07:27

Thanks for your support guys! Yes, I’ve been busy… but there is still more to come :-)

@Urlich – what do you mean about the project? Each action has its project in the calendar.

@Ryan – you can already add multiple tasks with different due dates using task parameters

:-)
Peter Button 13 Jun 08 13:20

Very good! Two suggestions:

1. Unless you already have a task for today, there is nowhere to drag a task to quickly move it from a past date to today. I had a number of overdue tasks this morning and I had to change the date of one of them first before I could drag the rest to today. Might it be an idea to always have a “today area” visible even if empty, to which things can be dragged?

2. In the same way, might it be useful to have an area where a task could be dragged in order to turn it into an undated task and remove it from the calendar view?

:-)
Michael 13 Jun 08 22:25

@Peter – The “empty areas” are actually the things for improvement in Nozbe Calendar – the more I use the calendar the more I see there is a need for this… especially that drag-and-drop is an easy technique to use. I also like the idea of the “undated” area.

:-)
Andy Howell 14 Jun 08 18:12

The Nozbe Calendar is great, because now I get a “picture” of my upcoming due dates.

:-)
Gary 14 Jun 08 20:54

Looks great! So this seems pretty complimentary to when MobileMe is released, since they have no to do/action item or notes sync. What about the calendar piece? Since iCal is now supported, would anything added on Nozbe then roll to iCal and sync through MobileMe you think?

:-)
LeolovesNozbe 15 Jun 08 18:02

Very cool feature, thanks! May I suggest to add a way to sync your Nozbe calendar to Google Calendar too? Would be very handy..

:-)
Michael Potter 15 Jun 08 19:00

Michael, great job on the calendar integration! You have truly added value to my subscription to Nozbe. I really appreciate it.

:-)
Michael 15 Jun 08 23:12

Thanks guys for the heads up!

@LeolovesNozbe – Google Calendar supports iCal, so you can use your Nozbe’s iCal link to sync with Google Calendar. I’ll write a post about it in a few days to show you step-by-step how this can get done…

:-)
Ulrich 16 Jun 08 05:42

It would be nice to have the calendar view just for one project. Otherwise it does not make sense to show the projects on the right side in the calendar view.

One more: In the ical-View on the Mac and on the iPhone the project is not mentioned. Can you add this?

:-)
Ulrich 16 Jun 08 07:02

Two more: The “today” and “tomorrow” etc. tags in the calendar view are redundant. Why not delete them?

:-)
Michael 16 Jun 08 07:48

Thanks Urlich for your detailed feedback! We’ll take care of these issues :-)

:-)
John Kendrick 16 Jun 08 17:00

Thanks Michael. You created this before I even knew I needed it! This will really save me time as I will not have to go through each project any longer to check for upcoming tasks due. GREATTTTT Work! John

:-)
Charlie Rosenbury 16 Jun 08 23:49

New functionality like this makes me glad I’m a subscriber.

Any plans on adding calendar functionality to the API?

:-)
Kiran Denniz 17 Jun 08 05:25

finally! yay!

also, is it possible to show the total of the hours on the planned tasks for a day in the same line as the date? anyone would then know if they have not allocated enough time to complete their tasks.

:-)
Edward Rodriguez 17 Jun 08 12:17

Hi Michael, this is a great feature!

I tried setting it up with Google Calendar but I don’t find a way to do it. Could you please tell me how to do it? Thanks.

Edward

:-)
Alex MacAulay 17 Jun 08 16:25

I can’t seem to get it to work with Google Calendar either. Any ideas?

Alex

:-)
Tom Callaghan 20 Jun 08 18:16

I was able to add it to my Google calendar and it worked fine initially but it doesn’t seem to update. I’ve made changes to my Nozbe lists and due dates but my Google Calendar remains unchanged. Is there a way to change the update frequency?

:-)
Michael 21 Jun 08 10:09

@ Tom, Alex and Edward

We’re working now on checking the Google Calendar integration and update frequency and we’ll make sure it’ll work better.

Thanks for reporting this.

:-)
Nick Bomford 23 Jun 08 11:15

Bug? I just re-ordered my tasks for today (some already done), then added a quick task – only to find that the re-ordering went back to the original order. Not exactly crucial, but any particular reason?

:-)
Tom Heitz 25 Jun 08 13:28

Michael:
How about making a video that shows how to make Nozbe work with Google calender. I don’t know how to make it work but a screencast video would help.
Thanks,
Tom

:-)
Michael 30 Jun 08 20:26

I’ll be preparing the Video about the Google Calendar integration and will post it very soon. Thanks for the comments!

:-)
Don Williams 2 Jul 08 14:08

Michael I am having a problem with the sync to Google through ICal it keeps wanting to open Outlook but cant do it, and then closes Does anyone have any suggestions ?

:-)
Michael 2 Jul 08 18:24

We’ve redesigned the Nozbe Calendar a little and added a couple of cool features upon your requests and I posted a video screencast, also showing the Google Calendar integration. Click on this link to watch the video

:-)
Edward Rodriguez 8 Jul 08 17:48

Hi Miachael, I added nozbe calendar to google calendar a couple of days ago following your video instructions and still nothing shows up…would you know why?

Thanks,

Edward

:-)
Edward Rodriguez 8 Jul 08 17:52

Michael, I opened settings, resaved it and now it is working. This is awesome! Thanks,

Edward

:-)
Richard Thompson 30 Jul 08 15:32

I followed the directions in the video to add my Nozbe Calendar to my existing Google calendars. The ical calender shows up on Google, but is empty, and does not contain any dates from Nozbe after 24 hours. I opened settings and re-saved, to no effect. Any suggestions on making this feature work?

Richard

:-)
Michael 31 Jul 08 08:57

Sometimes it’s like this. Please remove it from Google and try adding again. We’re currently investigating why it’s so in some cases. We did our best to have it work with Google but it must be some problem on their end. Have a look at our calendar video

:-)
Richard Thompson 1 Aug 08 20:55

I have removed the Nozbe calendar from Google and re-established the link several times. The Nozbe calendar does show up on Google with whatever calender are present at the time the link is established, but the Google display does not update when changes are made at Nozbe. I have waited 24 hours but there were no updates on Google from Nozbe.

Richard

:-)
Richard Thompson 6 Aug 08 17:06

In investigating why the Nozbe/Google calendar synchronization did not work for me, I determined that I had “Google Labs” activated. I deactivated the “ Google Labs” feature, and sure enough, the Nozbe calendar entries finally appeared in Google.

Richard

Michael 6 Aug 08 17:18

Richard – Thanks for investigating this and for reporting back! Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
