I know you’ve been waiting for this for quite a while now, let’s start the beta testing of our new Nozbe iPhone app:
How will we roll out the app?
This and next week we’ll be distributing the app to the beta testers and we’ll have initial testing of the app:
Phase 1 – Sync and design
In the first phase (until end of February) beta testers will be testing the app against our development server – we’ll give each beta tester a Solo account on the development server so that they can test syncing and the overall performance of the app.
Yes, because the testers will be using development server, we’ll ask them to migrate using our newest backup/restore feature at least a few of the most intensive projects for them to the development server so that they can work on those both on the iPhone and on the web.
This will be an extra hassle for the testers but will enable us to thoroughly test syncing to make sure no errors or missing data happens during the sync. The most important “problem” people are having with the current app is the lack of consistency when syncing so we want to make sure we’ve addressed it once and for all.
Phase 2 – Comments, Sharing and Inbox
In the second phase, starting beginning March, we’ll be rolling out a new beta 2 version of the app that will hopefully work already against our production server.
We’ll invite more beta testers, especially those who have Multi-user accounts to test our sharing, delegating and commenting features on the iPhone.
Phase 3 – roll out by the end of March
By the end of March we should have a final app ready and submitted to the Appstore for you to enjoy. This time it will sync perfectly, work beautifully in team environments and make you and your teams really productive.
How to become a beta tester?
If you’ve read the entire blog post, you know what are the constraints and issues in phase 1 (development server) and if you still want to dedicate your time and help us make the app perfect (we hope you do!), just post a comment below saying that you want to be a beta tester and why, and we’ll select a few and email you instructions as how to proceed further.

We really need testers who will not only want to see the app on their iPhones but will also want to really take it for a spin and push it hard to make sure we finally nail the sync and the basics.
The first beta version of the app will not have Inbox, sharing and comments just yet, these features are not stable yet and we’ll roll them in the beta 2.

Please add me to the list of reserve testers (if there is such list), because I’m not an intensive nozbe user so far and don’t want to take place of someone who would beta-test the app much more intensively than I. However, I’m a migrated user from the Mac Things application and I know the issues they had with synchronization, so I could spend some time testing the synchronization from that perspective

My iPhone dev team said we’ll have the app ready by the end of this week. I’m testing an early alpha now and I’ll post more details and screenshots tomorrow.
I’m in process of updating the list of testers today and tomorrow. Please do check your emails and respond accordingly as from some I that have been send out last week I have received no replay. Others should receive messages latest tomorrow.

Michael, I would love to help out with the beta testing of the new iphone app. As a long time user of Nozbe I think I could provide the team with some good insight as to what is working and what needs work. I also don’t mind moving a few projects/tasks over to the development server.
