Plans for this week? Next week? New way of planning in Nozbe 2.0 Calendar!

Michael   Wednesday, September 30
Comments: 18

We’re rolling out some great new features to Nozbe Calendar in the 2.0 version and I think you’ll love them.

We’ve been inspired by ZEN to DONE, a spin-off methodology created by Leo Babauta based on “Getting Things Done (GTD)” by David Allen. In Zen to Done, you create rocks and stones – tasks to do for a specific day and for the week.

Introducing Weekly view in Nozbe 2.0 Calendar

together with scheduling for this week, next week, or whichever week you want!

Just have a look:

And of course you can drag and drop your actions between specific days and weekly scheduling. This way you can plan certain important tasks without committing to certain dates and later schedule them at the day you want.

If you don’t want to drag your tasks around, you can quickly change the date to “this week” or “next week”, like that:

Hope you like the new features of Nozbe Calendar and it’ll prove even more useful during your Weekly Review.

Question: How will you use “weekly” scheduling? What are the actions you’ll be “scheduling for next week/this week?

If you like this post, I'd appreciate a Digg  /  Del.icio.us  /  Stumble

Love the new feature, Michael. I’m a big fan of Leo Babauta’s blog.

One suggestion – once a day in a particular week has passed, that day should disappear off the current week’s calendar (assuming there are no past due Actions remaining). For example, I have completed my Actions for Monday and Tuesday of this week – it’s Wednesday today – so there’s no reason for Monday and Tuesday to show up for this week, since I can’t back-schedule an Action! I have to scroll down to see Thursday and Friday, since Monday and Tuesday are taking up space.

Just a thought. Keep the updates coming!

Great feature!

Suggestions
—————-

1. Please don’t lock everyone out during maintenance, for a few hours or close the site as sometimes people might have something important to get to.

2. Please notify people via email when updates and downtime is expected. Even via twitter, anything.

Other than that it’s great! i could not access my account for 6+ hours.

Is there a plan for a desktop application too?

Cheers!

:-)

Leo, I’m really sorry for the downtime – it wasn’t expected or planned – our server provider had connection issues and many users couldn’t access their accounts – now we’re all back up and running. Again, I’m really sorry for the downtime but it wasn’t planned at all.

Yes, the desktop application is in the works, will post more about it in October.

IMPROVEMENTS NEEDED.

1. iPhone is application is not working.
2. No communication on down time.
3. No support area on the Nozbe.com site stating issues for future & current customers.

Thankyou Michael.

I am a new to Nozbe and have just signed up!

Also just to let you know, that the iPhone App is not ‘syncing properly’ which i’m sure you are aware of.

I have been using the iphone web version because it simply does not sync properly. Whilst i’d love to use the iPhone app, it does NOT sync.

More has been written about it here in your ‘community’ section, link below.

http://www.nozbe.com/gtd/forum/section-2/post-e56b55d/iphone_app_fails_again

I look forward to the fix so that the iPhone app is can be usable. At the moment since ‘sychronising’ is the issue, the app is essentially useless.

All in all Nozbe is a great product, however since i have a ‘paid’ account i’m not sure if this is the kind of service is really worth the $84.00

Is there anywhere on this site the tracks the progress of your developments or bugs?

Thanks again, and look forward to the fixes!

P.S.
I’m not sure how big your customer base is but for people to leave comments about your iPhone saying the have the ‘same’ problem would be enough to give that attention.

Wow! That´s really great, Michael!

As a great ztd-fan I´m really more than happy about that brand-new feature :-)
Especially because I didn´t expect the launch of this ztd-calendar. For some outside in the wild this could be the killer-feature when it´s time to decide which gtd-app is best!

Thanks again, Michael for your great work
Keep on moving!

Love the new weekly planning – I am just finishing up Anthony Robbins 10 day program called Time of Your Life and I am using Nozbe to implement his principles and plan – and it fits pretty good but I was wondering how I was going to implement the weekly capture and I was pleasently surprised last night when I logged in to she you now had a weekly planner….. keep up the good work. I love nozbe.

Katie, it’s not a coincidence about the Tony Robbins program – it was one of the tapes I was listening to on my iPod during my travels in Summer. I really loved some parts of Tony’s RPM model and wanted to implement some of this to Nozbe.

Currently in my day-to-day business and life I’m implementing many features from GTD, some from ZTD and from RPM by Anthony Robbins – I’m just choosing what works from all of the above and have my own MTD (Michael To Done) mix :-)

Can we print the weekly calendar so we see the planned “rocks” for the week? Thanks

:-)
Randy Parker 2 Oct 09 01:05

yes, +1 to printing calendar. also, please support another syntax for future weeks — “week 43” works, but I’d really like to say “week of 20 oct” if I know I need it done that week but I don’t know the particular week number.

I am using Classic but would very much like to try 2.00. However, when I try to access it, it just keeps showing that it is downloading but doesn’t. I am using XP Service Pack 3 and I.E. Are there any extra requirements for 2.00? Thank you.

:-)
Michael 3 Oct 09 12:11

Randy – great idea for the week “naming”, we’ll get right to that.

Jacy – which IE you’re using? IE 7 or 8 should work just fine. Please send us email to questions AT nozbe DOT com and we’ll try to solve this with you.

:-)
Brian Tait 4 Oct 09 18:44

Michael – I second the suggestion by Juan Ros that once a day has completed, that it be removed from view. Even better, show us the “next 7 days”, which will keep me focused on the tasks that are ahead of me.

What are your thoughts here?

:-)
jacygirl 5 Oct 09 03:24

Thank you, Michael. Have done so.

:-)
Randy Parker 7 Oct 09 07:47

Thanks, Michael. The new Calendar is a nice improvement — a very useful way to make sure things are getting done on time without overly focusing on dates.

@Brian – I used to use the old calendar and set the interval to 3 days manually in the URL. However, I think I like this new calendar better. It is true that on Friday you’ll have to click to the following week to get a view of what is ahead of you.

:-)

Michael -*GREAT* addition of the Calender. The ability to drag and drop to a project, context and now the calender greatly enhances the user experience when working through my inbox!

:-)
CLD 19 Oct 09 02:50

The new calendar improvements are great. I like the “this week” or “next week” type of option. The only kink with that has been that once the broader category of “this week” or “next week” is attached to a task it stops appearing on the iPod version of Nozbe. Will this more flexible calendar be coming to Nozbe for iPod? Please say yes!

:-)
CLD 19 Oct 09 02:51

Let me clarify- the task still appears on Nozbe, but not in the “Calendar” section. It’d be great for the iPod version to have a calendar that is set up like the one here online. Thanks!

:-)
Cory Shepard 27 Feb 12 11:28

Hi Michael, It would be great to filter the calendar to Today or Tomorrow or This Week etc., and then be able to print the task lists in the same great way you can print projects, tasks etc. Is there a way to print from calendar?
