The fastest Nozbe for Desktop (Mac and Windows) is there (version 1.1)!

When we’ve launched version 1.0 of Desktop we knew it wasn’t perfect but we knew it was good enough to already boost your productivity. I’ve been using it until a few days ago when I started testing version 1.1. And it’s great!

Speed, Speed and many improvements and fixes!

This new version of the app is now almost 3 times faster on Windows and sightly faster (and thinner!) on a Mac. We’ve used a new engine for getting our app right and it has paid off!

Windows: Download the fast and mighty Nozbe for Windows

Apple Mac: Download the updated and slimmer Nozbe for Mac

Note to Windows users – the application is not signed yet, we’re getting a new certificate now to sign the app so Windows might warn you that the app is “dangerous” etc. Don’t worry, just run the installer and you’ll be fine. Nozbe will only do good to your computer as it will make you more productive. We’ll try to release a new version without these warnings soon, but we didn’t want to make you wait even more. Other than that, the app is so fast it’ll blow you away. Trust me :-)

Note to Mac users – the application is compatible with Mac 10.6 and 10.7 – not 10.5 (let us know if you need it!) and has both the Japanese and English version enabled and works beautifully in both languages. New languages (Spanish, Polish and German) are in the works and will be there with the next update.

Note to all users – in this release we focused on speed, performance, minor features and bug fixes. New release with new features is just around the corner and is coming soon.

...but we did add just one more thing…

By popular demand we added alphabetical sorting of projects and contexts. Yes, a feature that’s been requested so many times and is “fully compatible with David Allen’s Getting Things Done” is there. It’s a toggle, so you can switch it on and off. You can’t manually reorder projects when in the alphabetical order mode, but you can switch it on with one click. If you have many projects, you’ll love this feature. I know I do. Thanks guys for suggesting it!

Again, in case you haven’t, go ahead and get your fresh Nozbe app:

I am begging you: please include dragging tasks into projects, and onto calendar dates, in the next full release. Right now it’s still too cumbersome to process my Inbox. Thanks!

For Nozbe for Windows, is there a way to assign “this week” or “next week” AFTER the task has already been saved? (I know that for new tasks, the # function can be used.) Since I haven’t figured out how to do this, I keep reverting to web app to specify weeks for the task to be completed. There must be better way. Thanks.

Proxy doesn’t work for me on Windows 7. I need to be able to set it manually or you need to read proxy-config from IE. Automatic proxy is not supported on our network.

Installed and runs fine for me.
As it stands, I’ll probably stick with your web app (even though it takes up more screen width) because of the drag-and-drop-tasks-between-projects feature. I know there are other ways to do this in the Windows app, but I use Nozbe projects as sub-dividers within a single actual project (as I can’t handle lists longer than about 10 items – does my head in!). Drag and drop means I don’t have to click into the detail of each item in order to move it between projects.

I wish that I could say that your windows client works because I would really like to use it. However, every time I try it, it fails in some catastrophic way that renders it unusable for me. Last release, it just crashed and would not respond. This release, all of my projects seem to lose their labels and restarting did not help; I think it may be a local application caching issue. Anyway… both times I tried this program that problem happened within the first five minutes. Please contact me if you would like more information. For now… it is back to the web for me.

Regarding the missing d3dx9_43.dll – you should just reinstall directx.

What about shortcuts? Aren’t there any keyboard shortcuts for quickly entering a new task or do i actually have to use the mouse every time?

Great app! I have one request (on Nozbe ver.1.1 for windows)
I would like a font settings menu.
I am using it with Japanese language but the font looks strange. Probably it is a Chinese one. Also I prefer bigger fonts. Thank you.

A no go for me. Need the ability to set the proxy manually. My company will give me the proxy information, but will not allow us to change the proxy setting for windows. Can this please be added?

The missing file is d3dx9_43.dll and is related to DirectX. But, me too, dispite this error, all seems to run fine on W7

Just downloaded 1.1 for Mac. There needs to be a single control to mark a task completed and remove it from next actions. And where is the control to view “completed tasks” for a project. In calendar view, completed tasks are showing up as overdue!!

Is there a plan to publish linux version in near future? I use Nozbe 1.1 in linux with Wine but still I am looking forward to native linux version.

yes, there is message, telling some all file is missing after install, when starting nozbe win on win7 – for my device, nozbe starts regardless of that message

The installer just failed for me twice. First time it seemed to install fine, and I started to enter my login info. The application froze and quit. I then tried to re-launch it, and it turns out that Nozbe.exe no longer existed!

I was confused, so I ran the uninstaller, and re-installed it. After a successful re-install, the program wouldn’t even launch, b/c it said that a certain .dll file was missing. That’s strange, since I just installed it. Maybe I’ll come back for Nozbe 1.2. I’m on Win 7 Business.

Thanks, but this really doesn’t do me much good until I can access it on my phone with an updated android app. You said March, still nothing. Any eta?

Also, in Nozbe for Windows I’m not a big fan of the small Evernote Notes text box. Re-sizing options would be great.

Michael, I was hoping 1.1 would eliminate the bug which removes all projects when using labels. I’ve really needed the desktop app, but again, as I’ve stated in two previous comments, it is useless for me without the use of labels due to the large number of projects I’m using. I appreciate the work on this, but PLEASE FIX THIS!!

Well, I’m excited and all, but using a 32-bit Mac (original White MacBook) I’m totally locked out – the new version requires 64-bit. Is this an oversight when you built it, or a genuine requirement?

Michael

Proxy should work fine now even if it’s not being configured. The proxy settings are taken from the system settings automagically. Please let us know if it works. In our tests it did work :-)

In a corporate environment, without proxy configuration, does not work. In one of the interim versions, proxy could be configured. What happened to that?
